It's a common misconception, but the father and mother puppets are not actually made from the bodies of sasori's parents. They were the first puppets he crafted, he made them from wood in the image of his parents after they died in war. I assume this was the seed that made him eventually want to start making "human puppets" or puppets made from human bodies.

They should have focused more on the rapid finger movements and gave it more fluidity like Itachi and Kakashi’s crazy fast hand signs. What we saw just added a cheesy element that brings down the level of badass.
