My personal theory is Isobel & John gave Elena (and themselves) the best life by allowing his brother & wife to adopt their baby. They’re teens, it’s a small town etc. But also Mystic Falls was a weird place and I think Isobel went into paranormal research, figured out she’s Katherine’s descendant & kept an eye on Elena through John. Staying away from Elena & keeping Katherine / Klaus out of Mystic Falls was always her goal. Releasing the tomb vamps was opposite of what they wanted bc keeping her existence secret was too priority. But Elena, Anna & Damon couldn’t leave well enough alone. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Isobel and John, as obnoxious as they are, were really doing their best to keep her alive.

Wellz is correct, the warlock put Klaus into Alaric 😂 But I loved the theories about Alaric being his doppelgänger or fooling everyone from day one because I was also genuinely confused the first time I watched that scene! Around the 40 min mark…. They gave up Elena cause they were teens & John’s brother & wife were older so they could handle having a kid. This part I might be misremembering but at the same time I think they were having trouble conceiving a kid on their own as well, so they viewed Elena coming into their life as a blessing. All the vampire stuff is just a coincidence. Random: I wish the actor who played Alaric got to play around as Klaus more cause he was really good/entertaining lol
