Update: It’s not all sadness

I know most of my non-fiction posts lately have been like a grab-bag of sad pulled directly from a bucket of suck. But, it’s not all awfulness and the tears of children. Here’s a few things that did not suck recently.

I got myself a Destiny-themed Nerf gun. I made a vegetable stock that wasn’t terrible. I’m also making pasta sauce from scratch today. There’s also a bonus shot of a salad I had that was pretty good.

They’re not pictured, but I also got myself some books about Tim Burton’s art. I know his stuff isn’t to everyone’s taste, but I like it. Chalk it up to exposure to Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands during a formative period of my life.

In other news, I’ve been reading a book called Bindlepunk Bruja by Desideria Mesa. The sequel just came out, which is why I’m rereading it. It’s a sort of a historical urban fantasy with a (sigh, I’m really not sure what the acceptable descriptive term is now, so please don’t burn me in effigy if I guess wrong) Hispanic twist. Anyway, it’s good. If your reading tastes lean that way, you should check it out. It’s available on Amazon here.

In an effort to expand the possibilities of my current menu, I’m exploring Indian food, Thai food, and Vietnamese food. It might work out or it might not, but I figure I can’t eat steamed carrots and broccoli every single night and remain sane. So, viva la culinary experimentation!

Anyway, I just wanted to share some upbeat things with everyone for a change of pace.
