Whiskey Wednesday
Added 2021-03-03 20:11:22 +0000 UTCIt was difficult to pick which whiskey I wanted to drink on my birthday, as I have a few special bottles that I haven't opened yet that are just waiting for a special occasion. But after careful consideration, I decided it would be Red Spot. I have been searching for Red Spot since I started tasting Irish Whiskey. (It's kind of like the holy grail! ~ the elusive bottle that no one could find or get their hands on!). Mitchell & Son's finally relaunched it recently, but it is still a challenge to get with all that's happened last year.
Back in November, I had some Whiskey club friends find out that a couple stores in Ohio had it in stock. I frantically called a girlfriend who lives out there and begged her to go buy it for me before they sold out, and she did on her lunch break. Talk about being a good friend! The excitement for it to arrive though, was almost unbearable!!!
It was so worth the search and wait for it. I have no regrets opening it for my Birthday! (Okay, maybe a little, but that's just because I always like keeping a bottle unopened!) I loved it so much that I had to take it with me on my ski trip. It doesn't get much better than sipping such a special and delicious whiskey in front of a roaring fire on a cold night.

Notes from Masters of Malt:
Nose: Stewed berries and red wine, with a touch of new leather giving it a savory edge.
Palate: Apple turnover, black pepper spiciness, caraway, blackcurrant jam, soft vanilla.
Finish: Lasting oaky warmth and a final hint of damson.

Love how the photo of you is close to how I described what I like about snow days, being snowed in and curled up by the fire with a loved one. Just wish I was there with you.
