I think the troll problem in our culture now you would be treated as the bad guy or villain if you pull the lever and kill one person. If you look to comic books/superhero’s no one would pull the lever but the villain would. It basically what thanos did and he’s treated as the bad guy. Also you would get done by the law too. Present ideas. I’m 35 so I don’t know how old your person is but I actually like getting good socks, I know it’s a bit of a joke about old people getting sock as presents but I actually like getting socks but good socks like Ralph Lauren or other fashion brands. Also maybe something silly like a joke book. And if your close just your time, take them out and pay for dinner for them
