Sometimes the sketch and lineart differ considerably. With the sketch, I stuck too close to one reference picture, and in the end felt it did not look right/fit with the rest of him.
Although when I like the sketch I try to stick as close to it as possible while drawing the lineart, it's a good habit to not be afraid of deviating from the sketch either.
