Breeders - March Dev-Log

This month was quite a slow one. A lot of work outside the project needed attention, which slowed the development by a large margin. That means no new game build this time, but there are some new things to talk about.
The next creature is in preparation: Embracer. It is able to cause the status effect “Silence”, which prevents you from casting spells like Fire, Ice, or Wind. If you are not able to stop its preparation, things might get difficult. :>



The battle logic for the Embracer is almost done, but it needs some polish. After that, it’s about how it acts outside battles. There are some ideas to make it somewhat unique, but more on that once it’s more refined.
Also, the implementation of the Embracer required some changes in the data structure to make it reusable for upcoming creatures, which took quite some time. Experience from the previous project showed the importance of solid structures. Though the initial setup may take time, it speeds up later development. This approach allows faster implementation of future creatures while keeping them customizable and easier to maintain and debug.

Thanks for the participation with your suggestions and votes! The winner is Rapture with the “Mosquito” suggestion!
After thinking about how to implement the creature into the existing battle system and considering the suggested description, the first thoughts on implementation are the following (note: things might change later):
There is a main Mosquito as the primary opponent. However, it could summon minions that attach to the player or cause disruptions, increasing difficulty if ignored. The Wind spell could be used to shake them off, removing them from battle.
Implementation has not yet begun, but the “passive minion” system could introduce an interesting mechanic. While the combat system is strictly 1v1, this mechanic might allow for scenes with multiple enemies... :>... It could even open possibilities for Luci to summon non-controllable minions in battle. We’ll see... :>

I don't think the summons would breed the enemies. More like a passive attacker or buffer. We'll see, for now its just some idea tossing :>
