THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN PART 2 Watchalong w/ Michael and Brandon!

Comments

Wow this journey was so much fun with you guys! I had watched the first movie before reading the books, and already I was hooked. It forced me to read all the books, so when the rest of the movies came out, it's always difficult to compare the source material to the dramatic interpretation. You do realize that if they put in everything you wanted to see in this movie, that the movie would probably be over 3 hours long hehe. And I don't know if pre-teens and teenagers have that kind of attention span for a movie hehe. Anyway, if you guys are really interested in the lore, there is "Midnight Sun" which is the first Twilight book but from Edward's perspective, and THEN.. there IS the "Twilight Saga Official Illustrated Guide" which was written by Stephanie Meyer and gives all of the background information to the different covens, and the whole vampire world that she created. It's a definite must-read if the lore is your thing. :)

So, first of all, we should agree that some things are missing from the books that would have been relevant for a complete understanding of the films (Think of Harry Potter, and the amount of important stuff that's missing in the films). I think Stefanie did an amazing job in her books. And for the films, there will always be moments where you think, “Oh, that needs to be explained, defined, and elaborated on more,” and yes, I understand that, but at the same time. How many Movies based on a book could do that?. I mean read the books yall than we can talk. For me personally as a teenager, the books were perfectly crafted. I understood the world and immediately immersed myself in it. As a teenager, not everything has to make sense; you often look for excuses to escape the real world. You wish for an Edward or Jacob who comes to your window at night and loves you unconditionally, no matter what you do or how you look. Because let's be honest, Bella isn't really that exciting, even in the books. You can't really grasp her, what are her hobbies, what makes her tick, except that she doesn't like snow and rain. She has zero interest in her human friends, and everything revolves around her from the start, even though she does nothing to deserve it. As a teenager who didn't perceive herself as special or interesting, that was the best condition for putting myself in Bella's fictional place, because I thought if it happened to her, then it was possible for me too. What more could you want? As for the imprinting story, I just want to say that it doesn't matter whether it always ends in romantic relationships or platonic soulmate relationships, etc. For me, that's one of the things I'm okay with imagining for myself. But with Jacob and Renesmee, I think there are enough hints that the two will become more than friends once she is old enough. This applies to most of them, simply because the relationship is so intense that there is no room for anyone else. For me, the explanation in the books also made sense. The fight scene in the movies was the best surprise for me who had read the book. Yes, there is fighting in the book, and it is pretty long and awesome, but the scene with Alice and Aro does not exist in this form. So you don’t experience the fight where everyone dies and then surprise. Just a vision from Alice. But this whole movie scene was awesome to see, because even if you knew what was actually happening, you weren't quite sure if the filmmakers had completely changed it at the end.

Also, they never actually told the audience that Jacob and the pack are all shape-shifters not actual werewolves, weird they kinda glossed over that, especially since an ancient vampire volturi didn't even notice.

I think I like the 1st part better because I read all of the books before the movies, way back when, so seeing the honeymoon and wild pregnancy and Bella's death I loved to see brought out of the books, but the CGI baby got me so much and the fight being a dream sequence in this one was harder for me to like. This book I liked more over all, but Twilight 1 is always going to be a great nostalgia movie, so you have to watch the others too as a series lol
