Shine ชาฒ (Orchestric Ver) - Episode 1 | REACTION

Comments

As a child of the '60s, this first episode brought back some memories. Granted, I was only in my teens, but the party scene and music, along with the protests, looked remarkably similar to what was happening in the US. This was set in 1969 and the Vietnam war still raged on until 1975, Pot was the currency of the flower power generation. A lid sold for around 20 and was readily available. Yeah, it was a wild time.

For some added context, the studio and creators have been pretty open in their aim to distance themselves from the label of β€œBL” with this series and have made a point when doing press to state that this is a gay series, not a BL series. Which, given the BL genre’s early roots as content aimed at straight women, I personally find refreshing. Also, they are referencing two very real student led protest movements that happened in France and Thailand in this time period.
