Some folks call them cactusfolk. These same people assume that these tall, green plant-humanoid hybrids have personalities as prickly as their hides. Of course, locals who know them by their chosen name—saguarons—recognize members of this exotic race as loyal, thoughtful, and resolute.
Desert Warriors
As one might guess, saguarons thrive in hot, sun-soaked environments where water is scarce. Many desert travelers share stories of saguaron roamers saving them from death by dehydration. Accustomed to wastelands filled with dangerous creatures, many saguarons are reliable allies in the heat of battle.
Nomads and Loners
Saguarons propagate very slowly. As such, anthropologists consider them an endangered species. Saguaron communities are a rare sight, even in deserts where other species of mundane cacti thrive. The fact that most saguarons are willing to sacrifice themselves on behalf of their allies further compounds this problem. Still, many saguaron prefer the company of just a few close friends over that of a larger community. Saguarons who join adventuring groups often make lifelong companions with their guildmates.
Saguaron Names
As plants, saguaron rarely know their parents or raise their own children. In fact, until a saguaron interacts with other sentient lifeforms, it may not even have a name. When a saguaron finally does take a name, it takes whatever name or nickname it is given by those it first meets. Saguarons are neither male nor female (although, they are arguably both), therefore, they accept any name given, regardless of its cultural connotations.
