[Call for Suggestions] What should Sarge and I talk about on our first podcast?

Tomorrow, Sarge and I will be kicking off a podcast where we talk about all things D&D (name TBD).

I figured we'd take three topics that you guys are interested in (ideally related to 5e) and chat them up.

Let us know below what you want to hear us gab about.

Also, if there were some form of crafting/hobby classes that players could pick up. (Cooking, enchanting, smithing, spell weaving/crafting, woodwork, etc.)

Converting different editions of DND to fifth edition. For example I am very familiar with fourth edition that is when I started playing, but I am not very familiar with how the mechanics of fourth edition works compared to fifth edition. I know many points have been discussed before, but nothing major or a fully comprehensive comparison. This idea would also benefit many others who’ve taken a break from the game in different editions and want to pick it back up again. Maybe convert other games as well such as Pathfinder or others. Maybe one major conversion type per small podcast episode.

Dave, not necessarily a podcast specific "topic" but something to definitely bring up if you talk about writing (or maybe in one of the upcoming writing workshops) is the importance of the spellchecker/grammar-checker/editor in one's favorite word processor. Taking something one is working on through that process can be very good at catching little things that are easily fixable. This is something I emphasize in my monthly writing group for our library - it can really help catch things, especially for those of us who have been a long time out of school.

I've written adventures for me to run for 30yrs. I bet you and Sarge experienced some major differences when writing for OTHER PEOPLE to run. I'd like to benefit from your experience. Maybe a top three things to keep in mind or change or do when writing for other people?

Poisons and potions and the easiest way for a character to transport them without the chance of them Getting smashed

Down time

I would love to sit through a live creation, adventure, NPC or monster. I like the idea of you creating specfic DM tools or talking through DM techniques Ultimately, looking for enabling slots of information rather than info dumps. Stuff you can take away from teh session and believe you could implement into your own game kind of thing

Crafting tips: how to effectively use toolkits in making potions, oils, weapons, armor etc. I think that with there being so little structure in this department, a lot of DMs (myself included) have to find their own approach to each skill. I believe that the biggest issue, at least for me, is determining materials, which in turn, in D&D 5e theory, determines the length of time, cost and rarity of the item being crafted.

Best tips and tricks for new DMs and playing with young-ish kids

Hello everyone, what about a brief introduction into roleplaying and its key components. Maybe some are put off by how they perceive D&D to be a complicated game with hundreds of rules, and by kicking off with the basic introduction may help debunk this.

how can we improve 5e grappling and improvised weaponry rules to make that kind of playstyle/build engaging and entertaining. Thinking Jackie Chan style Monk, Greco-Roman wrestler Fighter or dirty fighting Rogue.
