Status Update - 2019-27-05
Added 2019-05-27 16:27:21 +0000 UTCWell, I'm back to focused development work. Things definitely are getting back on track again, finally! And did you nitice? It's a status update on a monday as it was initially planned! *gasp*
What I recently did:
Decided to outsource monthly sessions
If you don't know what I mena, read the news from last Friday. I no longer try to create the sessions myself which bogged me down more than I'd like to admit
Upgrading things to latest Unity version, spring-cleaning the project
Last week I upgraded the whole project to Unity 2019.1, updated many plugins and threw out others. The old island is gone, instead there is going to be a new environment with similar theme, but it will look better. And depending on the platform will feature more or less eye-candy instead of the old terrain that looked so bad because it had to run on the slowest phones.
Oculus Quest support
While I haven't contacted Oculus yet about access to the store (and asking if they'd consider a keys-only like solution as it works on the Go/GearVR right now), I did test the headset and got things working. If you have the last beta or the public version, you can sideload it onto the Quest. My current (unfinished) v1.2 already works perfectly on the Quest, only the controllers use the model for the Go.
What I hope to accomplish next (this week):
Import process
I'll finally be working on the new import process. This includes the default import folder, better screens with better usability, etc. Basically, everything will be better afterwards. Except wireless transfer, I will probably need to re-implement that as the upgrade to Unity 2019.1 did kill the plugin I used for that. But that was expected. Because of this, also please don't expect the new SessionMaker so soon.
Tiny vacation
I need one. It will only be a few days. The problem is more with my client work and not MMM, but taking a few days off from _any_ software development from time to time will make sure my brain will continue to work smoothly for the foreseeable future. 🙂
Variants of February session
I didn't get around to do the variants for 4 hours, 2 hours and 1 hour. Will do that ASAP.
And that's it for today. As always, I'm looking forward to your comments. So, if you have thoughts / answers / questions, please let me know!
