The Struggle
Added 2019-05-17 16:06:11 +0000 UTCNo matter what I did, how I reached, which angle I came at it from... I couldn't get this damn onesie to snap shut! I didn't understand it, how was it not fitting?! I winced and pulled and tugged and pushed and tried so very hard, but it just... wouldn't... reach!

"Oh my goodness, what is going on in here?!" Mommy walked into the room with obvious frustration on her face, her arms crossed over her chest. "I can hear you fussing from the other room, Annie. What's got your knickers--" Mommy paused at the word and laughed. Annie didn't even wear knickers anymore!

"Mommy! It won't reach, it won't, and it used to and now it doesn't!" The ascending timbre of her voice, the pouty inflection, the shrill tones... this sounded every bit like the beginning of a famous Annie Tantrum!

Mommy let out a deep sigh and uncrossed her arms. "Gosh, you're so helpless without me, aren't you? Lay down on your back." Annie shook her head and puffed out her cheeks. "Nuh uh! I can do it! I used to do it!" "When was that?" Mommy asked inquisitively. "When did you last wear that onesie?"

"Um..."* Annie had to think on that one. When did she last wear it? "When I was in the Potty Times!"** Which was to say, the time of her life before when she DIDN'T rely on diapers 24/7, not so long ago but another world away.

Mommy gave Annie a look. Annie looked blank, and then, all at once, it clicked. "OOOOOOOoooohhhh..." "There you go," Mommy said with a smile and patted her little girl on the head. "Now lay down and I'll button this up for you. From now on, I should be changing your clothes anyway."
