IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - Your Tier Rewards Are Changing

I'm changing the way that my audio recordings are priced effective 01/01/2021. This change also effects what you receive as rewards in your current tier, so please be sure you read and understand these changes so there are no surprises next month!

I'm making these changes because I feel that the recordings I'm releasing these days are a bit undervalued.  When I first started this is 2016, I set the price at $3 which was okay back then, because most of my scripts were short, audios were on average 4-6 minutes long and were quite simple.  But as time goes by, scripts are longer and more demanding, and often I'm adding SFX and background tracks to enhance the listening experience, and so it's taking me way longer to produce an audio than it did in 2016. So I've settled on a new system where the cost directly relates to the length of the finished audio. This change will apply to my entire catalog, on all mediums including Patreon, SubscribeStar, Gumroad, and direct orders via email.  So if you want to stock up on any recordings before these rates go up, please feel free, you have until Dec 31st!

I am also reducing the number of new releases that I create every month from 5 audios down to 3 audios.  This leaves me more time to work on Non-Patreon projects, like private script commissions, indie video games and visual novels, and voicing animations for some of our favorite animators. I will also be pursuing some collaboration projects with other creators!

The New Pricing/Credits System:

•   1-10 minutes long = $3 or 1 credit
• 11-20 minutes long = $6 or 2 credits
• 21-30 minutes long = $9 or 3 credits

My audios are almost always under 20 minutes, but in rare instances, the system continues so that each 10 minute increment adds another $3 or 1 credit to the price.

How these changes will effect your current reward tiers:

Main Tiers:

• $2 Cover Charge - No change as this tier doesn't earn credits
• $3 Pick & Mix is renamed Audio ala Carte - Each $3 you pay still earns 1 credit, just note that some audios require 2 or even 3 credits to purchase. So as always, you can adjust your pledge in increments of $3, so pay $6 if you want 2 credits, $9 for 3 credits, $12 for 4 credits, etc.  This can be adjusted anytime when you want to make a larger purchase, or scaled back on months where you need to cut back.
• $15 Candy Buffet is renamed Potluck of the Month - This is the best value, and requires no input from you, as you get new recordings in your dropbox every month without doing anything!  For $15 you still receive everything that is released during the current calendar month. No need to track credits or make requests, everything is automatic. In 2021, I will make 3 New Releases per month, and many of these will cost multiple credits. But you don't have to worry whether you have enough credits when you're in the Potluck Tier, because you get every new release that month regardless of length/cost. Other available tiers:

• $5 Tips & Commissions - This isn't a reward/credit earning tier. This is simply there for people who just want to leave a Tip without receiving anything in exchange (always much appreciated!). It's also where people can make one-off transactions to pay for their commissions, whether it's to have me record their script or for a creator to pay me for voicing their animation or video game, etc.  Since I don't have a Paypal account (long story short - Paypal are assholes), this is a way to pay for commissions via Patreon. When joining this tier, you can just overwrite the $5 amount with any amount you like, and then after you join, you can cancel right away to avoid being rebilled.
• $50 Candy Addiction - Just like the Audio ala Carte tier, but your $50 pledge gets you 20 credits instantly! It's like a booster pack to allow you to make multiple purchases at once, and it comes with a built in 20% bulk discount! These 20 credits can be spent on audios from my catalogs, which have different credit values based on the  length of the audios you choose (as explained above).

Last, but certainly not least, to all my beloved Scriptwriters Anonymous members. This tier is being deleted.  This doesn't mean I no longer want to record your scripts, in fact I will continue to depend on your script commissions. But starting in 2021, I'm only going to release 3 audios per month, and I don't think it's fair to have 10-12 people in the Scriptwriter's Tier paying month after month to accumulate word count credits, when many of you aren't actually turning in scripts on a regular basis. I know it's been your choice to be in the tier, even if you don't submit scripts very often. And trust me, it's been an incredible boost to receive that extra funding month after month, and I'm probably a fool for shooting myself in the foot and asking you guys to drop out of that tier.  But I still can't help but feel bad when someone is paying for something they aren't redeeming.  So I'm going to ask you all to move to either Potluck of the Month or Audio ala Carte, depending on which one appeals to you more. You can of course alter the amount of your new tier pledge to whatever amount you like, in case you want to consider the extra funds as a tip which many of you have been doing for quite some time now. I just want to say that your participation in helping me provide content has been really appreciated all these months (and in some cases, years), and I hope you will continue to hire me to record your scripts.

So how do I get you to record my script?

When a patron has a script they would like to submit to be recorded, email it to me at candy@voicelikecandy.com and make sure to include your Patreon username. I will give you a quote based on my 2021 Commission Rates (still being worked on, I update them in January every year).  Any Patrons who have been in good standing for 3 months or longer will receive 10% off their quote, and Patrons of 6 months of longer will receive 20% off. These discounts will only apply to scripts which are Patreon friendly and can be released on Patreon/Gumroad etc.  For more taboo scripts, my new policy is that I'll need to read and decide whether or not I will accept them, and I will have special surcharge rates for taboo topics. But please note that I will be turning away most of the extreme taboo topics that are similar to the Red Title audios being purged from my Taboo Catalog at the end of this year. 

I will publish my 2021 Rate Guide as soon as it is ready.  But first, I need to focus on the last few recordings for December 2020!  Stay tuned for my next release coming very soon! And remember, if you want to take advantage of the old prices on my current catalog audios, you have until Dec 31st to buy them all at the cheaper rate before the changes outlined above take effect.  Feel free to message me with any questions or concerns, and I hope this was explained clearly enough that everyone understands.  I tried my best to make it clear and concise (says the person who just wrote a novel above... sorry for being so wordy!)

*** Totally forgot to mention, I've turned on Annual Membership options on my profile.  This means that you can now join any of my tiers and Pay Upfront for one year.  Right now, the discount is set at the maximum which is 16%, which essentially gives you 2 months free when you pay for the full year.  I will do a separate post maybe tomorrow, which explains all the ins and outs of the Annual Membership option, because I don't want to overload everyone with too much info today.  Just know that it is there and it is intentional.  More details will follow this weekend.....
