Sentenced to Be a Hero (NEW-1), Kaguya-sama: Love is War - Stairway to Adulthood (SPECIAL-1&2-FINISHED), The Mighty Nein (8-FINALE), Fate/strange Fake (NEW-0&1) - Rewatching the hour long Fate/strange Fake was a good move to remember what happened going into episode 1. I'm VERY mixed on Kaguya-sama: Love is War - Stairway to Adulthood. SHOCKED, they skipped an arc about her family stepping into her relationship. It was good, but the urge to read the manga is there, 7/10. THE MIGHTY NEIN IS GREAT! Loved this first season! 7.5/10! Sentenced to Be a Hero has AN AMAZING first hour-long episode! I was gonna wait and give it 3 episodes before approving, but I'M IN!!

By the way the Kaguya-sama: Love is War manga-ka signed off on what was done to the series years ago... he agreed to turn it into something "new" after a certain point and to switch out the ending to original content. Holy hell I never want to see another work from this author even if I do finish off Kaguya-sama by reading the manga, he's screwed over other series of his too.

2026-01-10 21:44:18 +0000 UTCThe Mighty Nein had a strong finish for its initial season and definitely looking forward to more, absolutely incredibly dynamic charming characters to connect with and relate to throughout their overarching journey and individual subplots. Fate/strange Fake has an interesting start and looking to see how it develops versus other Fate routes; Sentenced to Be a Hero has a pretty damn GOATED first episode and the pacing, action, world building exposition, and animation are all on point so far. An epic fantastical battle went down at the end and that big ass golden sword was pulled straight out of Gilgamesh's divine treasure trove of swords and spears I swear lol.

It really bites hard because Kaguya-sama: Love is War is a damn near flawless adaptation and good in so many areas... yet they dropped the ball in a gigantic way by skipping over key characters' arcs and bypassing 80 - 90 freakin' chapters to rush towards the finish line! It's a damn shame we won't get to see those arcs animated unless someone else does it at another time, we'll have to read the manga to get those arcs smh. It's fine because I'm sure the manga is solid and I'll no doubt dive into those arcs at some point to thoroughly experience the realm of Kaguya-sama, the anime is just so damn good with the sheer entertainment factor and crazy facial reactions and mannerisms that it BLOWS not seeing the missing arcs and the family entanglement arc animated! I appreciate what was done here with the Kaguya-sama special and it was genuinely done well just like everything else, but we'd have cared for several characters more by the time we got here if we got all the proper buildup and character development along the way, plus learning about the main characters' families more in the process. The stakes would be higher and we would be deeper immersed into their whirlwind of romance and entangled subplots, what a bummer for what is an absolute masterclass of a RomCom anime series. I know the author wanted a new ending and that's why the movie content is being made now, that's interesting and I look forward to seeing it as I'm sure it'll all be great content otherwise. I feel similarly disappointed with how Haikyuu!! is now being handled with worse pacing and cut content since it's being adapted to movie form, which has to cut more content for its format.
