✨New Art// Alchemy of Secrets Dustjacket

Oooooh! I'm so excited to share this with you!! I got to do a German special edition Dust Jacket design and edge designs for Alchemy of Secrets by Stephanie Garber! (yes, the same Stephanie Garber behind the Caraval and Once Upon a Broken Heart series! Ahhh!)

The book is meant to have kind of art deco-inspired vibes, so I was tasked with coming up with a dust jacket design that isn't completely art deco but takes some inspiration from it. In the design, I needed to include some elements from the book: a martini glass, an hourglass, keys, and alchemical symbols! I also had to figure out how to fit in not just the main female character in the center, but portraits of the 3 male characters in 'windows' of the frame. Haha! That was an interesting challenge, but I like how it turned out.

I didn't get a chance to read the book before working on this since it isn't out yet, but my contact at the publisher read the book and gave me descriptions of the characters, which were quite vague! So it will be interesting to see how different artwork of this book's characters comes out. I have a feeling there will be a lot of different interpretations.

If you look at the second image, you can see the full dust jacket where the frame continues on the spine, the back and the two flaps on the outer sides of the dust jacket.

Anyhoo, I have done artwork for book covers, but this is actually my first dust jacket! It was a fun but challenging one, mostly because of the frame. An enjoyable challenge!
