patreon

Suggestions to help this patreon grow?

Hey guys I'm very happy and proud with all the support you've given me, and believe me when I say I put my all on each and every illustration that I deliver, I put about a week worth of work per illustration.

And recently I decided to scope up to doing an extra pin-up for promotion purposes.

But I'm getting very little in return, and that's not on you guys it's a fall on me that I'm failing to better promote/sell my work.

Originally I created this patreon as a means to support me getting my mental medication because it is VERY expensive, but it's been nearly a year since I started to run this project, and I haven't been able to afford a single bottle. At the current rate I cannot even afford to pay half my rent bill with what I make.

And maybe I am adamant and too proud, but the reason I'm not "raising my pledges to $3-10 a month" or "Sending the rewards at the end of the month through a private link" is because I feel like while it may clearly give me more money, it would come at the expense of being punishing to my supporters.

I don't want to get preachy about how artists should run their patreons, I can clearly barely make mine work.  But I know the last thing I want to do is to take a decision that will affect what you guys pay/get. I want my art not only to be accessible to people who like me don't make a lot of money. But also I feel like the current patreon economy of $10-15 tiers is not sustainable at all, its an economy that goes from the top down, that not only makes it unaccesiblle for low income supporters, but makes it an unhealthy environment for new artists trying to jump into the platform.

There is a very small finite amount of users among the gay community, even less among the gay art community, even LESS among the bara art community, and even less among the bara enthusiasts who use patreon, and the niecher you go the numbers exponentially go lower. So there is only a finite amount of "whales" as the game industry put it, supporters who can afford to pledge $15 to this artist $5 to that one $10 to this other.

I feel like when a big artists capitalizes so much money from a single person on a single tier, it makes it inaccessible from that person to support other artists. This system is already making artists, even some very big and popular, to struggle by getting traction just because they joined late to a party that's been capitalized by an unsustainable social business model.

Thats why I am  very adamant about catching "bigger fish" I'm sure I could easily raise my tiers to $3, and 80% of you would stick around triplicating my income overnight. But would that be fair to you? To anyone?

Art is my fulltime job, currently I do patreon half of the month and commissions the other half, and its a vicious cycle of time mismanagement where I cannot put enough time on patreon because I'm working on private stuff, while i rely on that private stuff to pay my bills.

So in an attempt of being transparent I ask you guys for suggestions of what should I do?

Should I do pinups where there are a dozen different variations? I got nothing against those but I personally always cum to the variation with cum on it, so I don't know if people is really into seeing the characters slowly get undressed and stuff.

Should I quit the footsex/armpitsex gimmick, and do more mainstream porn? more anal/oral porn?

Should I keep the niche? Should I (god no) draw more twinks :V?

I'm really at a loss of ideas, just know that I will never do anything that punishes my supporters, and hopefully anything I do is additive to what I already do.

Speaking as someone who is only a supporter, and not an artist on patreon: raise your tiers. I personally think that your art, and anyone's art, is worth it. I wouldn't mind paying the extra. As for the content: ultimately, I cant speak for others, but I pledged because I like feet and armpits. Yeah, you could definitely branch out and do anal and oral and other stuff, but I think you shouldn't have to sacrifice what you like to draw. That's what your major appeal is, in my opinion.
