November 2024 Preview

Hey everyone, wow, it's already time for the November Preview! The November package will come with some really great stuff. If you are a fan of the Simply Solo line, this is gonna be your month! Let's check it out.

A Nice Cuppa (Featured Wallet Game)

1 player

Demanding jobs, unpaid bills, health concerns: modern life is filled with constant worry. Let your burdens drift away, if only for a moment, in the rich aromatic steam of your favorite tea.

A Nice Cuppa is the latest entry in Button Shy’s Simply Solo series. Designed by Scott Almes, the game tasks the player with managing worries through careful card management across 8 turns. As worries are revealed, they complicate your life and force you to become distracted. Focus on your tea to eliminate those pesky problems and soothe your shattered nerves. Once your tea is ready, evaluate how you did.

A Nice Cuppa: A Good Book (Expansion to A Nice Cuppa)

1 player

Few things pair together as nicely as a warm cup of tea and a good book. Let the worries of the world go as you settle in for a nice relaxing read.

This 5-card expansion adds 2 new Tea cards and 3 new Worries to manage. Use a full set of 9 Tea Cards (and correspondingly 9 Worries) to play through a longer, more challenging game. Can you pay attention to both your tea and book through a full 10 turns?

A Nice Cuppa: Seasonal Stresses (Expansion to A Nice Cuppa)

1 player

Every season seems to bring a new challenge that complicates your normal routine. Addressing it head-on may help you feel better, as long as you don't ignore your other concerns!

This 4-card expansion introduces unique Stress cards. Add one random Stress card above your Tea line at the start of the game. Should you complete the card’s requirement, such as having 4 Distracted Tea cards at once, you may immediately use its bonus effect then remove it from play. If you’re unable to eliminate your Stress, you’ll suffer negative points at the end of the game.

The Last Lighthouse: Terrible Tides (Expansion to The Last Lighthouse)

1 player

The deepest recesses of the ocean hide nightmares even more terrible than those you’ve seen. As the tides carry them to shore, you must steel yourself for a desperate fight.

This 6-card expansion introduces Tide cards, which increase the health and range of existing Nightmares to create nearly unstoppable horrors. One Tide card is added to the rightmost Nightmare at setup and each time a Nightmare is moved to the right side of the sea, it also receives a Tide card. When Nightmares are defeated, their Tide cards are discarded – but they may return if the deck runs out. With the possibility of some Nightmares acquiring multiple Tide cards, careful management is critical to surviving the worst night of your life.

The Last Lighthouse: Fearsome Fog (Expansion to The Last Lighthouse)

1 player

Thick fog covers the sea, sowing doubt and confusion wherever you look. Illuminate these obscured areas if you hope to survive.

This 4-card expansion adds unique Fog cards, all of which are placed above the starting sea. These cards do not move, but remain face-down until a Nightmare underneath one is defeated. Once this happens, reveal the Fog card’s unique effect and discard it. These effects rearrange your Traps and Nightmares, potentially wrecking your plans for survival. All Fog cards must be discarded before the end of the game or the Nightmares win.

Mysticana: Wild Magic (Expansion to Mysticana)

1-2 players

The wild magical energy permeating the world calls to each spellcaster differently, inspiring countless unique branches of arcane tradition. Each style's adherents seek to prove their chosen methods superior both for casting ability and for managing the unpredictable surges of magical power.

Wild Magic is an expansion to the Mysticana deck for 1-2 players. The players compete to have the strongest collection of magical energy, denoted by cards they’ve captured from the shared Aether. Each turn, the active player adds one card from their hand to the Aether. This determines which cards they may capture. Newly added cards capture anything of the same rank as well as anything which is the same element and exactly one rank lower. A 7 also captures the lowest card of the weaker element. At the end of play, each player checks for any Backfires: if a player has exactly 2 cards of the same rank, the weaker element is flipped down and provides a penalty. Next, the two players compare their total score across each of the 3 elements; the player with the higher total rank in each element wins that element, and the player who scores the most elements wins the game. Optional Discipline cards add strategy-shaping special abilities for each player.

This month will also include an empty wallet for The Last Lighthouse: Expansion Collection.

That's it for the November Preview. We will post a Choose You Game form when we get closer to fulfillment. Talk soon!

I understand Buttonshy. I had a dream that Buttonshy made an advent calendar and every day you got a new game from oldies to the new ones. Fun idea don't you think?

Dale Fuluna

I've had a similar experience with a US forwarder... I may as well have gone and picked them up in person! (I exaggerate a little 😂). It also really doesn't help that I'm a buttonshy addict! At this point I'm trying to think which of my UK friends is least likely to give me the flick if I ask them to send stuff to me regularly. Maybe we need to start BSA (ButtonShy Anonymous). Let me know how you go!

Dale Fuluna

Hey Dale. I'm in Aus too and I know what you mean... I have tried a free UK forwarding shipping company to get something that was only in the UK store (pentaquark expansions I had been coveting FOREVER) and combined a couple other items only availabke UK amazon (small card games) I couldnt get to Aus to make consolidating worthwhile. I don't know which woukd be better for multiple wallets though say from 2-3 mths of BGOTM club ssaving uo before they send. I DID trial a US forwarding company but got absolutely ripped off from the first day of the "trial", so I do NOT recommend forwardvia . com as that was strictly for rare buttonshy games I could only get on US ebay/noble Knight at the time and intended to consolidate and save shipping cb theyre small, but they would constantly overweigh like leave the buttonshy game in a box instead of weighing the wallet game itself as a single item (which is what they do when they finally ship it so it's weird). But they essentially have multiple ways to increase your weight before it getd to packing and because they also round up to the next pound if youre wven 0.1lb oover... the you oay before they co sokidate and reqigh and they put the billable shipping weight anyway not actual weight. They also take 3+ working days to reweigh if you nnow a eallet gsme shoudnt be fhat heavy... and by the time theyre done yorue paying storage charges and you agree to ship it and they round it up anyway so you get cheated either way. Terribly frustrating when the quality of card reprint for buttoashy in Australia is awful and cheap feeling and no where near as nice as buttonshy's... plus no wallet either. ALSO they had plan fees deapire all this extra charges AND a fee to change it back to the free plan. Just inSANE lol. I am trialling a new US one that is free monthly and has longer storage time before you have to ship (90 days I think)- so you could sign up for dree and get a US address so that if any black fridya stuff hits you, you have a US address saved to use? I have it saved in KS so it allows me to switch to US only campaigns bc it can see a valid US address. I'm getting my first KS reward sent soon so O will likely test it for button shy BGOTM club and see if its cheaper to acquire the games this way throughout next year. You could just try a mth and see if the shipping works for you? Up to you! I'll not affiliated so sorry for hijacking but I am in the same boat so wanted to warn you about forewardvia. They got me advertising "dropped pricing on Australian shipping" the day I signed up and by the time I could ship, I was out of my free trial and those rates were long gone (if they ever existed). The OTHER option is to remember buttonshy don't charge shipping for Aus customers if you buy over $100+ USD on items on their wrbsite (usually equates to $150 AUD)... and with the black Friday sale coming up, I would make a list of everything you want and grab it then and make up an order to $100 USD. It's the cheapest way if you are catching up on series of games or snagging multiple in a sale where youve saved money anyway... Anyway hopefully this helps! I pretty miched backed everything from April onwards this year so I definitely think it will be cheaper if I join and send to a US address for next year's games...

Unfortunately the costs and failure for international shipping make it problematic offering club memberships.

Button Shy

Sorry - some of the October content was delayed, but it's arrived now and we should begin shipping this week.

Button Shy

It's up on our website to preorder again now.

Button Shy

Thank you!

Lana Weber

buttonshyhelp@gmail.com can either accept it or they'll know the details.

Jamie

I'm so, so, so sad I can't get the full membership being in Australia 😞

Dale Fuluna

I know this probably isn’t the perfect spot for this, but just figured I’d ask here anyway. If I’d like to update my shipping address for BGOTM, where would I do that or who would I contact?

Lana Weber

I found a copy on eBay new for the usual price. A company called Nerdmall. Maybe they have more.

Dawn Bustanoby

I'm new so I'm glad to see this question - as not had any info on October shipping yet 😀

Kay Powell

I fell into the same issue, wanting to purchase The Last Lighthouse. Does anyone know if/when it will be back in stock or perhaps part of a Kickstarter reprint campaign? Thanks!

Jamie Schulberger

When is October shipping? I’m really excited for the expansion content!

Christopher McKeon

Doh. The last lighthouse is now out of stock 😭

Dawn Bustanoby

Looks like I need to bump back up to wallet level for November because these all look amazing

Amber

Yeah!! What an exciting month of goodies!!!

Lana Weber

This looks frigging amazing!!

andrew rogers

So excited for all of these!!

Alexander Noehl

March 2024 package had the Last Lighthouse.

Joseph Kim

Gotcha thanks. That’s the month I joined. I must have swapped it with something else. It looks in stock on the site I may just purchase it, thank you.

Jamie Schulberger

It was in Mays BGoTM package if I remember correctly

Randy Johnson

I currently don’t have the last lighthouse. Was this part of a past BGOTM or will it be a part of one in the near future? This looks like a great month, thank you!

Jamie Schulberger

November is looking good. Enjoyed the The Last Lighthouse and the expansions are welcome. Another solo is always a welcome sight.

b.evil.c

Excited!

Damon Priest

Looks like we are getting an early Christmas present! What a fantastic line up. If this is the November package, bring on Decembers feast.
