October 2024 Preview

Hey everyone, October is fast approaching so we wanted to get out the monthly preview. This month is packed! We will be bringing you some great expansions as well as a much anticipated sequel to Death Valley. Let's check it out.

Death Valley: Highs & Lows (Featured Wallet Game)

1-2 players

Death Valley: Highs & Lows is the second entry in the Death Valley series. Its 18 cards can be played as a standalone game or combined with the previous Death Valley game to create an all-new set of 18 cards every time you play.

In this tableau-building game for 1-2 players, each traveler is striving to assemble the best mix of cards in their Journey and Scrapbook to win the game. Each turn, the active player chooses whether to add a card to their Journey row or to Rest and move cards from their Journey to their Scrapbook row. Adding new cards runs the risk of revealing too many Hazards of the same type, which causes them to shuffle away all cards in their Journey. At the end of the game, each player scores the cards in their two rows. Stars earn points, while Skulls cost the player points. Any special abilities also apply, typically earning the player points based on specific placements or conditions. The player with the highest total is the winner!

FantasyForm: Ripped Apart

1 Player - Expansion to FantasyForm

The ground quakes and splits beneath your feet. The air crackles with sparks, alchemically charged by your rival’s ambitious experiments. As their strength grows, you must take dire risks to defend yourself from their pursuit.

FantasyForm: Ripped Apart is a 6-card expansion for FantasyForm. Each multi-use card, like those found in the base game, adds multiple elements to the game. Master the new Lightning Form, hoist the Obsidian Blade, hire the defensive Brute or the aggressive Raider, and more. New Encounters introduce the possibility for your Rival to attack unexpectedly, so be ready for a fight if you want to defeat them!

Mysticana: Arcane Artifacts

2-6 Players - Expansion to Mysticana

The world is full of long-forgotten items of power. Will you harness their enchantments or gamble on your own fortunes to prevail?

Arcane Artifacts is a multiplayer 6-card expansion to the Mysticana deck. In this lightweight game of chance and skill, each player receives 2 cards and hopes to have the best combination for the round. After the initial deal, players may discard 1 of their cards to draw a replacement, then each player decides whether to stay in the play or resign for the round. Once all players have committed, a new card is flipped; this determines scoring for the round and also changes the value of each Avatar (rank ⟐). Players reveal their hands to see who holds the best score. Each round also features one of 12 Artifacts, which offer a bonus to the player's hand who meets their criteria most effectively. Rounds are cumulative, and the first player to win a round and have 30+ points is declared the final victor!

Super Slopes: Black Diamond

1-4 Players - Expansion to Super Slopes

This part of the mountain is for expert skiers only! Scout out the run before beginning your descent.

Super Slopes: Black Diamond brings cards 19-24 into the draft with a new ability that lets you reserve cards.

Pizza Pizza Yum Yum: Spicy Jalapenos

2-6 Players - Expansion to Pizza Pizza Yum Yum

Your pizza shop is getting some buzz and you need to make the most of the publicity. Time to kick it up a notch with a spicy new menu!

This 6-card expansion introduces a new ingredient, jalapeños. As in the base game, players must use their 6-card hands to create the best pair of pizzas they can manage. However, each of the expansion cards also includes a new specialty topping combination. These flexible scoring conditions reward players who can work together to maximize their points.

That's everything for this month! We will make another post with directions to chose your wallet game when we are ready to ship. Which expansion are you looking forward to playing the most?

Just a quick comment here before we post a full update, but yeah October has been delayed. We were going so well and a few parts ended up holding us back. I’ll get an idea of when everything will be here and post a full update.

Button Shy

Usually they go out late in the month or early the next, but I haven't heard anything. I'm glad it's not just me though!

Christopher Stuetzle

I haven't either, no communication 😕 October my first shipment so I don't know how it usually works

Kay Powell

Did October ship yet? I never received a package or a shipping notification.

Christopher Stuetzle

I just joined - if I understand this correctly, I would normally start with NEXT month’s delivery. I’m super interested in Death Valley, so if you’d like to charge me now AND on Nov 1st, and let me in on October’s board game of the month, I’d be thrilled. If you can’t - no prob. I know you’re a small shop.

Laura Jacek

The main wallet should have 2, and the expansion should come with one! Hope that helps!

HK

It does look like a particularly good month

Nick

Yes those posts are helpful!

Nick

Was Mysticana supposed to have 3 sets of rules with it last month??

Christopher Barnes

Is there a way to let Button Shy know that I’m making a purchase on the website and want all the games shipped together? What is the best way to do that? And does that mean I save on shipping?

Charles Van Der Walt

The Mysticana expansion wallets isn't coming to the club unfortunately. You can buy them separately at the store: https://buttonshygames.com/products/mysticana-empty-expansion-games-wallet

Will Templeton

Will October come with the empty Mysticana expansion wallet? I know in September, we got the base game and Cave of Djinns

Samantha Messina

Shipping notices just started going out. I got my shipping notice today.

Sarah

Super Slopes: Black Diamond :-)

Sarah

It’s ok, I imagined it was in stock too. I don’t know what happened but I’ll look into it

Button Shy

Er out of stock I meant. Sorry - typing while tired. My apologies. :-) I will eventually collect all the base games to the expansions I have. NP! I love your games.!

Stacey Batzer

Well played sir! Of what you have there FantasyForm is my first choice of an "I want."

Mark Fadden

Found the extra finger and that will be addressed. Never saw it before.

Button Shy

It looks like FantasyForm is currently out of stock on our site but I imagine we have more to be assembled. It’s definitely not OOP

Button Shy

I think this is just an art style that you aren’t into. That character art is decent, but stylized.

Button Shy

Check the Patreon post before backing any campaign. We detail everything that is coming to Patreon.

Button Shy

Which is OOP? These are all current games.

Button Shy

Wait what? We don’t use AI here and specifically speak out against it. Which card are you talking about?

Button Shy

Truest and most frustrating part of being a patreon. I think I have around 18 wallet games and expac's for many I don't have. It's a logistical challenge but it would be clever if reprints of the base games could be available as swaps each month. Or at least some or one...

Mark Fadden

Has September shipped out yet?

Christopher McKeon

I love being a patreon but I wish there was a way to have a wishlist or something fkr the games you want. I don't have any of the main games to these expansions and most are Oop. Hhmmm....they just get thrown in a box till I can get the actual game. :-/

Stacey Batzer

I am a part of everyone, and all that concerns me is that no fraud is involved. If AI is being explicitly passed off as human, not cool. Otherwise, 🤷‍♂️

Justin Honold

That art for the people in FantasyForm is rough. The hands are off. One from the main game had a 6th finger. I know everyone wants to support real artists and not AI.

Travis Morton

I really wish that I knew which expansions were going to be included going forward since I have been backing the reprint campaigns as well. As a result, I'm going to end up with more stuff I can't use.

Doug Jones

Wow this is amazing
