Hi, I'm George!

Hey everyone, new Button Shy staff member here! My name is George, I’m Jason’s brother and I’ll be helping out with the Button Shy Patreon. One of my goals will be to bring new and exciting content to you.

In the past I’ve worked on a few of Button Shy’s products including Penny Rails, Lost in the Shadows, and more. I made some artwork, play tested a handful of games and was even a judge on one of our design contests. I've also worked on the Avignon App which was a lot of fun! In fact, if you visited the Button Shy table at Pax East 2018 you probably already met me!

It wasn’t until recently that I learned just how awesome the Button Shy community is. I’ll be giving a helping hand with some things behind the scenes, but more importantly I’ll be cooking up some fun ideas to bring to you all! In the mean time, if anyone has any suggestions for the what they would like to see come to this community just let me know.

Hey George! You might never see this because post is old.....but I was just trying to piece together my pledge for Tussie Mussie current Kickstarter when it occurred to me it would be nice if we could set up some sorta game & expansion swap on here for Patreons. We all seem to get duplicates of some games & expansions here or there from Backing Kickstarters and being part of the BGotM Club. So I think it would be nice if we could all trade (since Patreons join at different times there will always be somebody who is missing something the veteran Patreons have duplicates of).

The truth is that box was empty. I ate them all before we even got back to the convention center. Boston was a great time though! -george

Well, geez, since you’re bringing treats from Mike’s Pastry, welcome to the party! Man, I miss Boston. No Button Shy requests, but I’d love a cannoli, please.

How to videos and playthrough videos are always helpful especially for the year long games

Deborah Gard

We want each game to be approachable and fun from the start. So this is definitely something I’ll look into. Thank you! -george

Along the same lines...old year long games like Chain Mail are on the PNP dropbox area, but I don't know how to start. Thanks again!

If there could be an instruction sheet for the year long games, it would be great! Ive been a member for several months, but haven't started them yet because 1 was ending & new 1 is starting. But to be honest I'm intimidated by them because I just don't know where to start. I haven't gotten much on the Discord channel yet for help. I would love a starter instruction booklet. Thanks for asking for input.

NANCY M SILVA

Great suggestion! I’ll keep that in mind. -george

Howdy George! Similar to what was previously suggested, when selecting alternate games for $20 BGOTM - it would be helpful to show some additional information about the available games (e.g. player count, theme, available expansions, # available, etc.). Similarly, it would be neat to have a fan-driven "review" of Button Shy games (written or video), outlining which game is their favorite, what pushed them get that particular game, and what they enjoy most about the game.

Ken Perryman

We're hoping to have them out within a week! -george

Hi, George. Any idea when the April BGotM packages will go out? I could be wrong, but I don’t think we get an email heads-up. So they might be on the way? Thanks.

David Mathers

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll look into that. -george

Welcome George!! Looking forward to hearing from you. I’m sure Jason is happy to have you aboard. Just two topics.... 1) Solo games...keep them coming!! 2) guess this is for anyone....how do you store your wallet games and non-wallet games?

Lorena Finnerty

It's only my first month as a subscriber, but if I were collecting everyone's preference whether to swap the monthly game, and what to swap it for... I would want to use a google form that submits to a spreadsheet, or maybe use some other survey tool that's out there. Or use airtable and make a database if you want to keep track of more things. Anyway... having everyone post in the comments seems like it would be difficult to track, compile, reference, etc. But that is just my first impression. P.S. George <--> Georgia ... Name buddies! :D

ForestNinja

I’ll take note of this too. Thanks! -george

Button Shy

Oh awesome! I should have it then, just gotta dig through my Button Shy box. Thanks!

Lost in the Shadows was one of the Postcard Games included in the Board Game of the Month last year. Unfortunately, these are only printed once. -george

Hi George, the biggest thing I would love to see is a monthly preview about 2 weeks before our cards are charged for the board game of the month club. Ideally it would be nice to move between the 3 tiers month by month depending on what will be available. I understand this may result in Button Shy getting less money but it would be a fantastic service. I can confidently say ill always want the tier 1, but maybe not the tier 2 or tier 3. It would be great for customers. Does anyone else agree?

Andrew

Hi George! What’s Lost in the Shadows? I thought I knew almost all the button shy games but this one is new to me and sounds quite enticing, I want to get lost in the shadows. Welcome!!

Joel Studer

Hey now that’s not what I meant! Lol -george

Button Shy

I’ll make of note of it! Thank you! -george

Button Shy

I mean...since you are asking, I'm gonna drop a shameless Chainmail 2.0 plug here...🤣

Hello George! If you guys do decide on a podcast I think it would be great to have a focus on one wallet game per podcast. A lot of the older games seem like they were a one and done. But those older games still need some love and a podcast that featured each one can only help the business! That right there should take you through a whole years worth of podcasts if you do one a week. Not to mention segments about upcoming games and some of the ongoing games. I’m still looking out for a second herotec game. Fingers crossed!

Lyle Freijo

That’s a good idea, thank you John.

Button Shy

Hey George! Glad to finally meet you and I agree that Jason can use all the help he can get.

John Ricker

Welcome, George!

Christopher Seaman

I know it's a big project but even a 15-30 minute podcast talking about all the current and upcoming games and kickstarters would be awesome! I liked Jason's original podcast...more of that!!

John Wright

Glad to have you George. I am sure Jason needs all the help he can get!
