Hello friends!
Since we talked last, we broke our $500 milestone goal and now we are starting up the Board Game Road Trip. What does this mean? Well here we go.
BOARD GAME ROAD TRIP
The Board Game Road Trip is going to be awesome. We’re starting a design at Button Shy. Ben has a solid base, and I’ll be putting a little thematic spin on it. We’re keeping it simple because when were done, we’re passing the torch onto another designer. How? Well, Ben will be traveling the country and visiting designers that we know and love. He’ll present the current version of the game to them (and they may already be familiar with it as we’ll be posting everything here as we go) and they’ll spend a few hours adjusting the design.
We have few limitations now and want to give each designer their chance to add to the game and mix it up in any way necessary. We’re also going to document each version of it, hopefully with a ruleset, a pnp, and possibly even a print on demand version of the game at The Game Crafter. On top of all of that, we’re going to be documenting each step of the process. We need to pick up a decent portable audio recorder to make it easy on the go, and Ben and I will do a debriefing style recording when we catch up each week. We’ll throw some video in here and there too.
It’s going to be a ton of work, but totally worth it. And if anyone here wants to try out some upcoming games, Ben travels a lot and has a good amount of open weeknights. We’ll post his schedule if you have good local gaming spots or events.
JANUARY PACKAGES
If you supported us in December, you will be getting a Board Game of the Month package in January. We’re still waiting on everything to come in. We have one of the many parts, but we’re waiting on the rest. I hope by the time we have our next update, these will be in the mail. More news ASAP.
DIY BOARDGAMES EPISODE 002 - BUYING ART WITH STOLEN CREDIT CARDS
I’m attaching / linking a new episode here. Ben and I run through setting up 12 different artists for 12 postcard games, and the struggles involved as well as the struggles of working with artists with a language barrier. We also discuss doing a small local convention and having to leave an hour into it due to your business credit card being stolen. The episode wraps with some thoughts on Avignon’s current Kickstarter success.

Our next episode will be an interview with the designer of our January postcard game. Were just holding it off until your packages go out.
Hope all is well! Catch you guys next week with the PNP for Ninja: Silent But Deadly and more news on these packages!
