I love the multilayered jokes in this one... not only is Ransom recognizing that "Vindicta" is quoting Shakespeare a fourth-wall break, it's also funny that it's *Ransom* noticing it. But it's blown away by the extremely deep cut where Mariner says that Boimler was going to be a "Xon," which refers to the never-made second Star Trek series in the 1970s; Leonard Nimoy wasn't interested in reprising the Spock role in another TV series, so they had substituted a Vulcan character named Xon instead. When the series morphed into "Star Trek: The Motion Picture," Nimoy agreed to return and Xon was consigned to the Land of Would Have Been... That doesn't just break the fourth wall, it utterly dematerializes it! XD

Especially since it was a holodeck program of people they actually know and not fictional characters. Can't wait for the episode 10 reaction. The soup and $1 donation discussion after the reaction was hilarious. " Give a $1. They need a new shirt.". Laughed pretty hard at that. Keep up the great work Gals.... I mean Pals.

2024-07-15 15:14:34 +0000 UTCOh yeah since I remember Kat mentioning The Boys having Jack Quaid who voices Boimler I'd also throw in he happens to also voice Clark Kent/Superman in My Adventures with Superman, so dude has 3 ongoing shows at once. While The Boys is pretty good I definitely agree it's not a show for Paula lol.
