This episode definitely reframes the context Qimir telling Sol that he just wanted a pupil.

It's funny how this episode is actually a validation of the Jedi philosophy of emotional detachment. we are so used to see the Jedi of this era as corrupt and vain that we never imagined that Indara and the council would make the right call. I am no sure I fully agree with Kat about Sol not learning anything. I think he believed mother Aniseya when she said she was going to let Osha go and realized that if he was just more patient he could have had his cake and eat it too. while patience isn't the best lesson from this episode, it is still a valuable one.

I don't really have anything to say about this ep that hasn't already been said so I'm just gonna go off on a tangent that excites me most. The witch teleportation thing. Parker hinted at it in the outro. In the fallen order game there is a night sister character who can teleport by turning into green mist. And I really want to see her and the protagonist of that game in live action since the actors both look like their video game counterparts. Their characters would have been alive and active through and after the rebellion. So I would love to see them pop up in The Mandalorian or one of the future mainline movies. I hope I kept that spoiler free I could say so much more! I love those games. Cal is my favorite Jedi now.

I find it strange that the characters who are the most remorseful about this whole thing, Torbin and Kelnakka, didn't basically do anything wrong. Okay, Torbin acted rashly (and you could argue he was influenced by Mother Aniseya) but I have absolutely no idea what his plan was, kidnapping the children? I feel like if Sol didn't get there Torbin would be stuck at the door, and so anything that happened afterwards is squarely on Sol's head. And also Mae's because as it turns out it was the fire that destroyed most of the base. I also want to point out that the framing of this episode is Sol talking to Mae, who already knows most of this stuff because she witnessed it herself, Osha is still in the dark. If this episode succeeded in anything it was to make me hate Sol. Like, even if we're going with the "Jedi are space cops" angle he had no probable cause to infiltrate the base. But he had to be there to conveniently misunderstand what's going on and I don't feel like that's good writing. Same way Torbin acting rashly all of a sudden seemed to only serve to get Sol to the base at the right moment. Finally the bridge, trying to hold the bridge up instead of Force pulling/pushing the girls was a weird choice, if the idea was that he had an impossible choice to make it could've been better. And I want to know how Qimir ties to all of this because he seems to have absolutely no stake in Mae getting her revenge, which kinda makes him not necessary to be involved in the story (until the last scene of the season where he'd meet a ready-to-join-the-Dark-Side Osha)

I think Qimir was more manipulative than you guys were saying -- especially with how he tried to deflect from/justify killing Yord and Jeki - that Yord was willing to arrest her and that Jeki could never return her feelings. He was reframing their existences in a way that would diminish their value to Osha. Which is the selfish perspective of how a Sith would place value on others - based on what they can do for you. Maybe it will be revealed next ep, but if Qimir just wants to use the Force how he sees fit, just go live your life, m'dude - why attack/murder Jedi? They might not have ever noticed him. (I guess it'd be ironic if he only did it because Mae wanted revenge, just to have her betray him for Osha, but then Osha ends up replacing her as his pupil)

Definitely good to take time between seeing and then getting a reaction. Glad to have a show that takes up more time in my head than it took to watch. It is a personal preference, but the show should have or been allowed to have more faith in the great story being told and set out the stakes at the start. Knowing that Sol was retreading past failure, but not quite, would have given more of a base to all of the great and subtle silent reactions that we've been treated to. The first halves of episodes 3 and 7 should have been the opening episode, with everything up to the end of the first bad meeting with the coven. That said they way the story is being told is more like the initial episodes are the cleaned up legends, and each episode gets messier and more human. Different strokes and all that, but looking forward to the end. =b

Funny That

I have no idea how they are gonna wrap this up in one more 30 min ep. Also I rewatched all the episodes last night which didn't take long since they're so short. This show is way better as a binge watch.
