Descent, Gallifrey Gals Get Warped! S6Ep26

Comments

"Can you tell if it was built by the Borg?" and Geordi says "Nah, it looks more like Frank Lloyd Wright"

SnabbKassa

Sorry but the reasoning is still nonsensical. Katrina won't watch because other people want her to?

Raja

Can you believe they found the power rangers' command center? Where was Zordon?

Todd Miller

I don't think Data was seeking Anger out on a narcotic basis, to which I agree is a negative thing to do. What I think he was trying to do was to replicate the conditions when he "got angry", in order to understand why he felt that emotion. So that he could change the parameters and feel other emotions.

Colin 3of5

Yes they have. It was at the end of a reaction although I can't remember which one. As for timing I haven't heard anything, but considering Generations takes place after S7, it would make sense (to me) not to watch it till after S7 concludes.

Colin 3of5

Neyachev is interesting. While she's yet another pushy admiral, she actually is a recurring character which makes her not a throw-away one. Probably only had a handful of appearances but it adds something more to the typical "annoying person in charge" when they come back. Wasn't she on DS9, too?

Joe Concepts

Hey gals, have you considered delving into the arrowverse at all with arrow, the flash, supergirl and legends of tomorrow? Also batwoman and black lightning so much content to dip toes into. Off the top of my head if you did legends of tomorrow the episodes could be gallifrey gals get legendary! lol

LonghillAndy

I hope you do watch a couple of the highest quality DS9 episodes as some are incredible.

Chris Lane- Venturi 3D

I was actually thinking about this when the Gals mentioned the people that "hate watch" them at the end of the video. I know that people like that exist, but they baffle me. I don't understand why people choose to surround themselves with things they don't like to deliberately trigger "negative" emotions. Like, okay, being "angry" isn't inherently negative, but if you're seeking it out like a narcotic (like Data is in this ep, actually), I think it's pretty negative.

Robert C

Thanks for the explanation. (Firefly and Matthew as well) Just another reason to be glad for the community here rather than having to sift through toxic YT comments when enjoying GG content! (although I did get a kick out of seeing "spicy Kat" - YT shitheads are the most worthy of salt and spice!)

Ben Chan

Okay okay but thank YOU for being so understanding with our understanding of your understanding of OUR understanding of the understanding that is understood!! ... 😂 -Kat

Time Lord

Hey Ben! Absolutely NOT directed at our wonderful Patron/Discord community overall. I wanted to try and make that clearer during the end of my rant but as I sometimes can.. I got a little spicy at the YT shitheads I was thinking about 😂But we are so appreciative of our community here and the support we get from all of you! - Kat

Time Lord

Yeah, it's mostly YouTube commenters implying ownership of the Gals and thinking they get to control what they watch. There's also a group that do the cute complimenting/pleading/hoping/begging routine, then switch to insulting/threatening when they get denied. I think that's who the "haters" comments were directed to. I don't think the Gals have a problem with people who suggest a show in good faith, then accept the Gals' decision on it.

Firefly24601

Yes, they haven't finished all the episodes from the last poll, so they should theoretically be doing "Journey to Babel" next.

Firefly24601

I also appreciated the discussion of negative vs. positive emotion. Personally, I don’t like myself when I’m angry. I don’t like the way anger makes me feel or act. It’s not about anger being good or bad; it’s about being unable to cope with it or channel it in a healthy way.

Matthew Zeidman

I haven’t seen anyone getting mean or aggressive here in the Patreon, so likely on YT. However, I think there needs to be an end to the DS9 complaints once and for all, both on YT and here on Patreon. Awhile back, Paula got vulnerable and made it abundantly clear why she was uncomfortable doing a watchalong. Yet, the, “Gee, I wish you’d watch DS9,” comments never seem to completely go away. I guess you could blame some of that on new viewers/patrons who didn’t see the explanation video, but it’s still not fair to Paula (or Kat) to have to sift through.

Matthew Zeidman

When Kat was talking about their reason for not wanting to watch DS9, was that more about YT comments or here/Discord? I hadn't realized ppl were getting mean or aggressive about it.

Ben Chan

Have the Gals committed to reacting to the first two TNG movies, or were they still waiting to hit 20k subs on YouTube (I think they're at around 18k right now)?

Alexander Caldwell

So, that would be "Journey to Babel" and/or "Devil in the Dark". Huh; interesting.

Alexander Caldwell

I assume they'll choose from the high voted episodes from the last poll.

Joe Concepts

Yeah; we don't talk about that one... 😜

Alexander Caldwell

There's also a third obscure film: "Stargate Origins: Catherine."

Mark Chrisco

Personally, compared to TNG, I'd say SG-1 is much more action-adventure, and a lot less depth. I would have no interest in watching the Gals react to that series, but maybe I'm in the minority on that.

Ben Chan

I know B5 is a popular pick, and I used to watch it a bit back in the day, but my vote for next sci-fi reaction is Stargate SG-1. Can't think of many shows (except maybe SG: Atlantis) that would be a better successor tonally for TNG; has just the right mix of drama and adventure, and just downright fun. Only real detractor is length; 214 episodes over 10 seasons, plus 2 movies. Yikes!

Alexander Caldwell

DS9 is my favorite Trek but I completely understand why you might not want to watch it now Kat. I had a similar experience with Babylon 5 fans. I’m sure whatever you guys pick will be great. Thanks for the fun reaction!

Matthew McKinnon-Gray

If you intend to watch First Contact, I would recommend the TOS episode "Metamorphosis" as a primer. You won't regret it.

Mark Chrisco

BTW, I forget; did the Gals send out a poll for the next round of TOS episodes?

Alexander Caldwell

That building is called the "House of the Book", and is part of the Brandeis-Bardin campus of American Jewish University in Simi Valley, CA. It was briefly used as the exterior of Camp Khitomer in Star Trek VI, and yes, it is Zordon's command center from Power Rangers. 😁

Alexander Caldwell

Is that the building that Zordon chilled inside of in Power Rangers?

LightFish

Admiral Neyachev, back from giving command of the Enterprise to Jellico in "Chain of Command" has always been disliked by the fandom, but dang it, I like her. She's a strong confident woman who puts her duty first, just like Picard. If the tables were flipped and she had a Borg prisoner she let go, Picard woulda said the same thing to her that she said to him. The only difference would be his personal lens versus her bigger picture view. Oh, and you don't see it too much here, but that building they end up in at the end is totally the Power Chamber from the first 5 seasons of Power Rangers. Also a California site too, but more recognized as the former, methinks.

Nolan

Great reaction. In re what series you react to next, putting in another pitch for Babylon 5. Great characters, great humor, great themes explored.

Stephen Kronfeld

It's been a fantastic ride with you two so far with TNG. I'm ready to savor every episode of the final season with you. Kat, just know they're not going to coast to the finish. Some of the best is yet to come. On a side note, to either of you catch yourself saying "End Program." after a trying part of a day?

Bruce Bromley

While I agree, I’m not not sure if commitment is the word I’d use if I became a fan of something. To me it’s just the natural flow of things, if I was a fan of something and there was a continuation of it, I’d want to see it. The Star Trek fan in all (most) of us, wants to see somebody react to it, but because of the time and as you said commitment, if you’re doing the post production stuff, it becomes more of a hassle. Not to mention the lack of financial support it gets. I haven’t checked the views on YT in awhile but I’m guessing it doesn’t draw a huge crowd, unfortunately. It seems the only shows that do well for reactors are current shows that are very popular which only run about 10 episodes for a few seasons. Same goes for movies, all the top (popular) flicks get watched and the hidden gems get overlooked.

Andrew Hogan

I'm hoping we get Journey to Babel for TOS next. A key episode of the series, and one the Gals will definitely enjoy.

Joe Concepts

Of course Kat, that was the infamous "Fuck with Data's shit button." The Doctor has the "Machine that goes ding," so why should Lore have a "Fuck with Data's shit button?" Logical.

Mark Ten

Do people even realize what a commitment it is to watch seven seasons of a TV series? It takes years. I've seen few reaction channels want to take that on. I can understand the Gals not wanting to turn this into a Star Trek only channel. Besides, the origin of this is Paula showing her friend her favorite TV show. I'm a DS9 fan reaction but I can understand it. Maybe best to be grateful anyone has done reactions to this whole series. I haven't noticed many online, and certainly no one doing the entire series on a weekly basis.

Joe Concepts

It's kind of hard to talk about this episode without spoiling the second half. I like this episode. Data's journey is so interesting. And when it aired, I loved it. The wait for the resolution was rough. Just one more season to go. I'm hope that Kat is ready for the roller coaster ride that is Season 7. It has some of the most amazing episodes and some of the worst they've ever done. You can get whiplash moving between them. On the topic of future shows, DS9, etc., it's bizarre to me that you say that there are people who hate-watch you and make these weird demands. I mean, I know it's a thing people do, but I just don't understand it. I guess that I have noticed a trend that there are a lot of people these days who surround and define themselves by the things that they hate and I guess it's kind of an easy way to find a community. But why not find a community based on love and passion? Seems not that much harder to me. Regardless, every time something like this comes up, I worry that I said or did something to make you folks feel like I was trying to force my opinion on you. Because I have disagreed with some things that you've said about various episodes and characters and I've shared that disagreement in what I hope is a friendly and respectful way. But you never know how those sorts of things will be received. At least this time I know I'm safe because I don't care about DS9. It just never hooked me. I'm sure it's fantastic, but it just wasn't the vibe I was going for. I actually liked Voyager a lot more even though I know that that one is not nearly as well regarded. It just had more of a TNG feel to me, which is what I wanted.

R. Chang

Well, thank YOU for understanding our understanding of your understanding of our understanding of your understanding :) Sad to see another season come to an end, but excited to see that Paula and Katrina are very close to the end of the journey they embarked on so many episodes ago. Can't wait to see it! And like so many others, I'm sure, I can't wait to see BOTH of your reactions to that one upcoming episode ;) LL&P

Antonio

While I'm very disappointed you guys will not do ds9 I never thought Kat was being ordered around by Paula, that's just silly.

Mike

While at the studio, Hawking was being given a tour around the TNG sets. They got to engineering and as they went past the warp core, Hawking is reported to have said, “I’m working on that.” That makes me smile every time I think about it.
