I really like this episode and was totally dismayed when the Chorus were killed - however I did actually expect something was going to happen to them somehow. The idea of the Chorus, of course, comes from classical literature as a character-plot narrator to the audience, such as in the works of the Athenian tragedian Euripides.

Riva is, IMO, the best dressed character in all of Trek. Or at least, the way I would if I were The Doctor....if I were; maybe I am....

Dan Williams

I only know of one other reactor that is doing Stargate and I don't think ANYONE has or is doing a reaction to Babylon 5. both are fantastic shows, B5 is better written IMHO but sometimes drops into classic Doctor Who territory with it's makeup and effects. Stargate is 10 seasons of TV, two made for TV movies, 5 seasons of one spin-off and two seasons of another. that would be one hell of a long haul.

thanks for the suggestion Scott. Neither of us have seen it (I don't thiiink Kat has anyway, and I certainly haven't) so it could be cool to come to a show with both of us knowing nothing! -Paula

We'll consider this! I also have a friend who is trying to get us to watch Stargate, what do you think about that one? -Paula

I've only seen the mini-series beginning 2-parter thing for BSG. It was emotionally difficult for me so I never went back to it. But maybe we could give it another whirl! -Paula

Thanks Glen! We'll feel out if DS9 seems like a good thing to move into when we get to it... I'll admit that I'm not the biggest fan of that one so it might be we watch it only if Kat is feeling really enthusiastic about it... -Paula

hm... I feel like, just based on our schedules, we'd probably do one at a time if we move on to other Trek shows, rather than doing overlapping seasons. But it will also depend on what else we are watching once we get to the start of DS9 in the canon. -Paula

I love hearing this. It's so fun to watch again with someone new, isn't it?? -Paula

I've sent them a message in the past on here. Suggesting to react to Babylon 5. I believe both of them would love it. It's extremely character driven.

Scott Archibald

Babylon 5 it would be fantastic to see these lovely ladies react to that gem of a show

Brendan Reid

Have either of you ladies seen Babylon 5 or the reimagined Battlestar Galactica? Two more shows I highly recommend.

John

If I remember right it is a 1000 stardates per season

Colin 3of5

Paula. You should think about adding DS9 to your reactions at the end of season 3. I am sure you know what happens at the end of season 3 and beginning of the following season 4. Would be a great time to start DS9 reactions since wolf 359 happens and DS9 begins with wolf 359. If you wanted to start another series sooner you could do ST Voyager or ST Enterprise as i dont think either of them would give anything away with reactions to Next generations. Really enjoy your reactions and look forward to more.

glen parker

question and i know its a ways off but if/when you get to the other shows do you think you will go as they released like how DS9 overlaps with both TNG and Voy or one at a time finishing one show before moving on to the next

I don’t remember this one at all, very enjoyable, I’ve never understood the term cheesy, if you think about it if cheese is really cheesy that’s because it’s mature, so it’s a bit of a daft insult

Geek trivia, if no one has mentioned it yet, the Stardates given in the show actually progress through the series. They start with a 4 for 24th century. Second digit is the season of the show, and the rest is a number that increments as the season progresses. I've also read that the actor who played Riva, Howie Seago, is deaf. It was his idea to have a deaf mediator. It's an interesting discussion. I've contemplated eye correcton surgery in the past as well as I'm functionally blind without glasses, but I'm not a great candidate for the surgery due to my extreme myopia. I'm a bit like Geordi in that regard - I have a fix that allows me to function. The risk associated with permanent correction is too great, especially in his case knowing he'd give up some capability. I'm not opposed to it, though. I don't think it changes who you are, but it is similar to some types of body modification - who you are at your core is the same, but it does change your appearance or possibly how you interact in the world.

Had the same reaction to Pulaski’s miracle cure. Very random. In general though, I liked this episode. A couple more until one of my favorites of season two.

Interesting episode. Never really rewatched this, so was fun to rewatch it with you gals. Some interesting thoughts. And I love the reaction to Geordi's moment, but also to Picard. He was such a great situational problem solver and leader. Taking charge in the right way. Great character and wonderfully portayed by Patrick Stewart. Falling in love with the show all over again. (never fell out of love with it though 😄)

I understand where Katrina's coming from. I, for one, like that everything wasn't wrapped up in a nice little bow sometimes. I don't think they really embraced the three and four episode story arcs until Deep Space Nine.
