FULL DISCUSSION - DS9 Season 1 Recap & Top 5 Episodes

There are a couple bland episodes of Deep Space Nine Season 2 but overall I think its a big step up from Season One. We start off with a decent if overly long story dealing with Bajor. we get a couple episodes apiece devoted to fleshing out Dax, O'brien, Odo and Quark. Plain Simple Garak makes a welcome return, as does the magnificent bastard Gul Dukat. And we meet two of our biggest antagonistic factions that will be important throughout the series.

2025-08-09 21:25:52 +0000 UTCIf given the choice to watch an episode from season 1 of DS9 or season 1 of TNG I’ll choose DS9 every time. I think part of the reason that you can’t recall a lot of specifics from DS9 season 1 episodes is that there’s so much new stuff going on and a lot to take in. When it first aired, you had a full week to digest and ponder what happened in that week’s episode, maybe even watch it a few times before the next one. With you guys watching episode after episode in short order, you don’t get the time to allow things to marinate, a downside to how we consume tv episodes these days. I didn’t think season 1 was great when it first aired, but it kept me intrigued until we got to the really good stuff. When you’ve finished the series you should come back and take another look at this season. I think you will find it wasn’t as dull as you think it is now.
