Some people just have difficulty with the picture and sound lining up in their brains. I have some neurodivergent people in my life that "need" subtitles in order to fully watch things. I personally don't need it myself because I don't have that particular issue.

If they are worried about subtitles giving away spoilers, why do they watch with subtitles? Neither seem hard of hearing, so why have them on? Having subtitles on will always make the experience worse, unless you actually need them.

And unfortunately that crutch isn't enough to carry a great many of them. However, there are still amazing stories left to be told, and you will find them in this next season. The only season they could have been told in.
