Outside of 2 or 3 episodes, that's DS9 season 1 for me as well if I'm honest

2025-05-23 12:10:51 +0000 UTCWhat I'm noticing about this series is I watch it in time for patron takes, get varying degrees of entertainment out of them, but by the time these videos pop up I'm forgetting almost everything about the episodes.

2025-05-23 01:32:02 +0000 UTCThis is where they established Odo as the "Sheriff" of the station. He doesn't work for Saltarfleet or the Cardasians, he does what he thinks is right for the station with Old West tendencies like honor and a sense of black and white justice!

2025-05-22 20:15:00 +0000 UTCA fun mystery, but something about the writing or the execution of how the mob forms against Odo is super cheesy to me and puts me off from the episode.

2025-05-22 14:43:37 +0000 UTCI gave this a B, even though I was tinkering on giving it an A. B is actually a good score. It was definitely above average, but to me, the clone thing was obvious once they found that it was DNA in the tank that was growing. Great mystery. Again, above average for sure, but not what I would consider a banger. Especially when you compare it to TNG S4 episode "Clues", which is an outstanding mystery episode with a great twist. But a great Odo episode.

2025-05-22 11:41:57 +0000 UTCBeautifully said. I think that same line of thinking is why I appreciate, in various degrees, every ST series of this era: one series had to walk so that future series could run, or ‘try’ to run. After a particularly heavy and thought-provoking outing of TNG, someone would ask, “I hope they touch on this issue next episode.” I understand that curiosity and that expectation, but, in general, TNG was not that type of show. And that’s okay. It still did what it needed to do.

2025-05-22 09:37:09 +0000 UTCSince I can't really talk about DS9 (as Alex and Josh should be not given any meaningful info in advance).....TNG had to re-establish ST on TV. Then when the TOS movies wobbled with Final Frontier, TNG had to 'hold the fort' for the franchise. Then TNG had to be a springboard for DS9 and Voyager. I often wanted TNG to be more 'this' or 'that' at times. With hindsight it is clear to me that TNG couldn't take the risks, or go to places that I wanted, because it was responsible for ST remaining popular enough to ensure the ST franchise could continue to grow. So, thank you TNG for your own strengths and for giving me my favorite ST show in DS9.

2025-05-22 06:01:25 +0000 UTCThis episode does a wonderful job cementing a few things about Odo's character and his approach to local law enforcement, and further drives home how much of a powder keg the Bajorans are so soon after the occupation where anything can set them off. Plus this episodes adds Rom, Molly and Keiko to the community making DS9 feel more 'lived in' than the Enteprise-D ever has.

2025-05-22 00:40:29 +0000 UTCEverything in ST:Deep Space Nine series builds upon past episodes; character development and growth and world building. It was ahead of its time in storytelling and the issues it dealt within the story arcs and even in how the format of television evolved to what it is now. Not all episodes landed perfectly but there are more banger episodes than in any ST series in my opinion. It takes some risks and for the most part is very successful at the risks it took. I watched this series in my early twenties when it first came out and I have never gotten tired of rewatching the episodes in the series. You guys are in for an amazing first time experience watching Deep Space Nine; I’m a little bit jealous.

2025-05-21 23:32:37 +0000 UTCI... I know I didn't watch DS9 anywhere as often as I did TOS and TNG, but for the life of me, I can't remember this one. I went to Memory Alpha and read the summary and there's the smallest, vaguest spark of a memory, but ehh... I'm going to refrain from voting on this one b/c I genuinely do not remember this.
