DS9 STARTS ON PATREON 4PM EASTERN - LIVE AMA

I agree. I've had the fortune of meeting several and knowing a few of my heroes. I'm hoping they feel more ready soon. I still hope to meet Andy, Armin, and Cirroc especially. Aron and I had intended to meet up, but never got to. The Trek family is unique.

When can I see episode 2? I’m looking now?

Beat me to this point. Additionally, Brooks and Forbes as actors wouldn't have had the same dynamic as Brooks and Visitor. Visitor takes time to really find her footing as Kira. When she does she is great in the role. Can't say anything about Brooks (who is a favorite actor of mine) because I would have to talk about how the first two seasons deal with his character.

Just want to clarify as I got a bit confused... so am I right in thinking there's going to be videos on Thursday, Saturday and Saturday from now on, but there's no video this Saturday as the first DS9 was essentially two episodes? But there will be a Sunday video as usual, and that'll be available Saturday for target demographic and bridge crew? Thanks!

Regarding Ensign Ro vs Major Kira character development... while I was initially disappointed, when DS9 first started, that Michelle Forbes didn't sign on for the series, in the long run, I'm glad Major Kira was developed instead. Kira brings a refreshing different dynamic, having never been in Starfleet and being the highest ranking member of the Bajoran military/provisional government there on the station. Had it just been Ensign Ro, we wouldn't have gotten that Bajoran/Federation tension in the same way. Also, Kira was an active member of the resistance whereas Ro was raised in a refugee camp during the Cardassian occupation and left her people to join Starfleet at the earliest opportunity.

Notice you said yesterday you wouldn't consider going to a trek convention this early in your journey. I'd really urge you to reconsider that, I never got to meet rene oberjoinois, it was always, I'll go next year, then we tragically lost him. Weve lost two essential actors from deep space nine Don't leave it too late!!!!

That frankly amazes me given how shaky some of the acting in Encounter At Farpoint was.

I would definitely be interested in watching those 1950's sci-fi horror movies. I just saw The Deadly Mantis again recently. The budgets were low, the acting was bad, and there was more cheese than a Kraft factory, but I still love them. As to whether you do them as part of the Horror Gallery or their own thing, I would opt for make it its own thing. That way, it won't interfere with other horror watching and if you decide to stop, it's not a big deal.

Out of the entire Emissary discussion, I agree most strongly with Alex criticising Avery Brooks’ acting as he is dragged backwards to the lifeboat. He looked like he was making zero effort to fight his way back to Jennifer. The director should have shot that again or even removed it. He had all the power of a dying man’s handshake. Besides the abysmal acting, how does someone get to Commander when they would rather stay with their dead wife’s corpse and be blown up than get on a lifeboat with their son?

Off Topic: When will The Expanse 2x11 post? Been looking forward to the episode since it's when S2 really picks up and doesn't let off the brakes.

Shawn Anomaly

Did you finally get those three, large TOS books in the mail? I hope so. They pretty much answer just about every question ever posed about that show, in one form or another.

Rhett Coates

Off topic, when you guys watched the comedy movie "Airplane!" .... did you catch the POST-CREDIT scene? And, the credits themselves become comical as they progress. "So there." (That's one, at the very end.) LOL

Talk movies have been made for about 100 years. Silent movies for close to 20 years before that.
