Calm Down Frieda!!!

Hilda s1 ep9 The Ghost

This episode hits differently after hearing about the state of Elijah's desk. XD

Fun fact: as a result of this episode, a chunk of the fandom started shipping the librarian with Hilda's mum (SHE: is a graphic designer; SHE: is a librarian; TOGETHER: they are... SKETCHBOOK). It works WEIRDLY well.

I mean, the librarian twist is obvious but very well set up, shes clearly Hilda from the future, thus why she always knows exactly what Hilda needs.

Chris Young

Speaking as the son of a librarian, the level of precision is accurate.

I love that the first time we see the librarian she comes out of nowhere with "this is the exact book you need" and when Freida question this seemingly magical ability David just accepts this as "isn't that her job?". It seems odd that in this most recent interaction she apparently drops the book they need by accident, like she is unable to not help people,

David bug thing is just a running joke, but it's fun to see you try to make sens of it ahah (although I know me saying that might make you think it's the opposite :3). oh also the fictional place the show take place in is supposed to be a nordic place, every myth we've encounter so far is based on Scandinavian folklore, exept the thunderbird who is a native american legend (which I believe is why he has an american accent ? I've read that somewhere but I'm bad with accent so idk) you gotta admit that a reverse poltergeist, with a ghost cleaning the room and it's absence creating a mess, is pretty fun. I also like how the show doesn't immediately go back to the status quo, there was friction in the friend group and it will take a bit to amend a final thing: I had the same reaction as you when I saw the [redacted] coming from under Frida's bed, but while I don't want to spoil I think it's worth warning you that while it is part of the mystery, it isn't something that directly affect Frida's mind. I really hesitated to leave that bit but I think it's overall better to give you an idea of the true intent of the show with that small tease ^^

Beware the librarian - she plays at being their greatest ally, until it comes time for the Great Librarian Hunt, where Frieda's mistreatment of books results in an eternity of copying new books in their dungeon. Very scary.

I have a little bit more of a reaction to mosquitos and some other bugs esspecially as a kid. When I went camping it sometimes looked like I was attacked by a small swarm of them. I think its kinda funny he attracts bugs because I relate. I don't think there is actually anything behind it lore wise. They are in the scouts so they are around bugs more often.

My assumption is that it got moved a bit because of the circus episode coming in between? Maybe today we get Steven ?

I find it really interesting how the librarian girl has a purple color palette unlike EVERYTHING around them

Sure we learned something last episode: We learned to not go behind the librarian's back.

David Johnson

Frida going through an identity crisis, David letting his resentment out when Frida's armor is cracked and Hilda is caught in between. Luckily her estranged aunt is there to help, even if it didn't work out,

When I got into this show, it was expecting cozy little mysteries and adventures. I was not prepared for the angst in this episode. It's realistic though, as every friend group at that age experiences some form of falling out. And it didn't correct itself in a 20 minute episode. I will assure you that the bugs on David thing is just that. A little quirk of the character. We all knew that kid growgrowing up who was unkempt, or dirty, or sticky, or smelly, etc. David is just the kid that always has a bug on him. Frida's attitude aside, I didn't really appreciate David going after her the way he did. But I think he may have just been harboring resentment for his own insecurities in comparing himself to his friend.

Oh wow this is the first time i watch the intro with earbuds and i must say, that clicker thing really *is* loud LOL

The writing is actually old Norse runes. Don't know enough about them myself to tell if they're Elder or Younger Futhark(though most pop culture stuff tends to go with Elder). It's very much in line with how most of the magic stuff in the show is heavily based on Scandinavian myths and folklore. And the cultural stuff, too, come to think of it. The names(Hilda, Frida, Joanna), how the ancient people we see in the first two episodes are very Viking coded, etc.

Wait I thought that Steven Universe was going to be posted two times I week now???? Can someone tell me if I missed something please?

PinkPonytail _Girl

Oh yeah, the David bug thing. Can confirm he is literally just that one kid in every friend group that bugs like more than should be possible.
