This is one of my favourite Zoro moments! It's never officially said that Zoro is the vice captain of the crew. Crew outsiders tend to assume it because of his strength or because he was the second to join, but it's this kind of contribution that I feel really keeps Luffy grounded sometimes. Much needed for both of their character developments.

I think the thing that I like most about it was that even at the end Luffy made sure that Usopp rejoining was Usopp's decision and on his terms. He could have easily just yoinked Usopp to the ship but instead he held out his hand to make sure that it was Usopps to decision to take it. This arc is really such a change. Like you said we start with wanting to get the Merry fixed, stuff happens and now we have a whole new ship starting a whole new adventure. And yes the good bye to the Merry just hits no matter how many times I see it. Such a nice way to cap off Ennies Lobby and the start the beginning of the new adventure
