Assign NPCs Roles

I gave up on the idea of ever being able to use NPCC again... so, this was requested. Now, read carefully:

This mod requires the XML Injector.

This mod is really meant to be used with NO RANDOMS, but can be used alone, or with other similar mods like Townies Overhaul, since it doesn't override anything from the game.

I didn't put restriction on giving roles only to NPCs, meaning that you can give the roles to the played household. I left it free so that it can be used to set up save games, beware, though, that the careers and traits are NPCs ONLY, meaning that you need to give the roles, and then evict the sims, for them to show up. Careers and traits will be removed when you load the household again.

If a sim doesn't show up, they may not be meeting other terms in the filter (master gardener and fisherman need to be minimum adults, for example)

These are cheats! You need testingcheats on and shift click on the Sim to find the menu.

Not all the roles are there, but most of them are.

UPDATED:

Added EP 12 as standalone. You can assign Cafeteria Worker, Janitor, Principal, Teacher 1 and 2 as they're referenced in the files, I have no idea what they are so they're referenced this way in the mod too, and the shop owner. It requires the main mod.

Assign NPCs Roles

Comments

Yes. They should show up in the remove from role picker

Jordan

Can this mod be used to remove sims who are already in the NPC pool for a certain position/career?

daluved1

Probably I haven't looked into it yet because this needs a bit more of work and a bit of playtesting

Jordan

Does this mod need update? Same issue here no NPCs showing up even click to hire. Btw I think there are some new roles coming along with the new pack.

Moonlikeruo

Hi! So, I've had a lil issue going on. Basically, I assign the sim to their NPC job. and they never show up to the lot, Bartenders never ever show even though it says "hired for this lot" Is there something I'm doing wrong! Please help!

Uiako

Hello, I made a correct Traditional Chinese translation, I hope you like it. Link: https://www.patreon.com/posts/zero-assign-npcs-84016228

Depends on what you're trying to achieve, read the description

Jordan

it's not working, do i need two files or one?

EvilMia Evils

old Assign NPC Roles mod works great!

MOLLORY

Hi, I put mods Assign NPC Roles but not working npc go to work bar, stand etc... how?

MOLLORY

I'll look into it, I'm currently testing this mod.

Other jobs don't have a problem, but the only bartender keeps changing to a different sim. Grimtooth Bar & Bunker continues to create and bring bartenders when visiting the bar, even though there are already three other bartenders in the world, including Celene. Even they are all werewolf. I'm very troubled by this. Also, when visiting Sulani's bar and Komorebi's bar, the game creates a new bartender. They're all constantly created with the name of the island world or sim with a Japanese name. Is there any way to solve this? I'm desperate...

The roles that crash the game in those situation are a couple of specific ones like the garden shop owner because they use special traits and are absolutely required on loading the market zone. But I used it to assign that role successfully in the past. I need to know which roles specifically are causing this and if it also happens with only these two mods inside.

Zero_

Hey, there, wonder if you can share some guidance about the Cottage Living NPCs. I have used this mod with great success to reassign Sages and such, but for some reason the CotL reassignments don't stick, and I discovered that using Assign + No Random will cause the game to crash because it can't generate CotL households to fill the roles I've already assigned. This is a defect of the game, not your coding. Do you have any recommendations? I will accept, "Give EA the finger for shipping a broken game," as a valid answer.

Miss Faye

This uses maxis system not some extremely aggressive script, so whatever "breaks" maxis roles breaks the roles you assign manually too (loading the sim in cas is one of them) also the game recycles Sims, that's normal to avoid creating more (university classes are compatible with other roles) I doubt MCCC lock career works with NPC careers because they're different.

Jordan

Hey, I’ve been testing out this mod in my game for the last four days. It’s a clean save and I made all the townies and assigned them roles. What I’m noticing is that they are randomly then assigned a different role. I changed their skills to match assigned roles (for example max mixology for the barman) and I noticed two things besides them still doing random other roles: 1. If I enter CAS, evic the sim, even if I flag freeze career with MCCC - the career is no-longer assigned. 2. Sims that are not in university and are not enrolled will begin action “Go to university” when I assign the barman. Was wondering if there is anything I’m missing and doing wrong. I also have no random assign mod.

Kamilizmas

No, MCCC is fully scripted.

Jordan

Will this mod conflict with MCCC??

{TMV}Creations

Nope I'm not putting another 1.71 GB of crap on my PC sorry.

Jordan

Will this be updated to add teacher NPCs? for the new high school expansion? I really love this mod :3

No one

it's the filters. That specific jobs has specific requirements related to Star Wars world, you need a different kind of mod to bring out that role from the specific setting

Jordan

First, I LOVE this mod. It's brilliant, second, is anyone having problems with it? After I assign the job to the sims it appears in the career category but as soon as I evict the sims from their lot or even go back to manage worlds they no longer have that job. I don't see them in that position, it's still some random. I want to replace all the jobs with Storm troupers so theyre everywhere. Am I doing something wrong?>

TheBoredSimmer

ty for sharing!

SCEVOLA

hey I adore this mod and it is helping me so much as I am setting up a base save for myself, so that if I ever decide to restart I already got everything set up and so on, but one of the options missing in this mod is assigning the natives of selvadorada, and while there is supposed to be a option for it with the NPC control mod I am unable to find it, and there is no cheats that I can find that sets it up, is it possible this is something that could be added to this mod? as I would so like not to use the NPC control mod as it always messes up my game and it doesn't even have the option for the one thing I am looking for even though it says it do!

MessedUpEssy

i adore this mod! so thankful for this.

I have several questions about this. The documentation seems to be very lacking. 1. Do I have to kill the existing sims assigned to roles or will they be overwritten? I had to remove the existing Grim Reaper, for example, by adding him to a household, before my assigned reaper showed up. Is this true of all roles? 2. Will the game tell me in any way if a role isn't being generated, or am I just expected to know someone isn't where they should be and that I have to assign one? 3. Do I need more than one of any given role? I assume I need more than one vendor if a lot or festival has more than one vendor, duh, but...do I need more than one maid? More than one butler? More than one yoga instructor? 4. The "owned restaurants" roles all have 5 levels. Are these roles for when you *hire* people, or for when sims are called to work at a restaurant you're visiting? Do I need to fill all 5 levels? What happens if I don't? Same question for Veterinarian. 5. Can I save sims with roles assigned to my library and place them in another save, and they'll still have the roles assigned to them? 6. Do the sims assigned to any of these roles still get called for walkbys, or are they JUST assigned to roles?

Intern Waffle

You just use this if: 1. the game is not assignign the roles on its own or 2. you want specific sims in specific roles. the description is "lacking" because it's very simple: it's impossible to completely stop the game from giving roles to unplayed sims even with No Randoms, but sometimes it fails.

giving them a different job automatically removes all the others. Nope this works as maxis, you just give the job, then the game decides when the sim is picked. If you can use it, NPCC is always the best option (it's fully scripted, no conflicts), this is an alternative for people who can't use because it blocks other mods (like Don't turn npcs into spellcasters and other mods altering filters) or for when NPCCs becomes outdated.

Zero_

I had more questions about region/lot locked jobs (I read previous question from another user but didn't quite understand) - the main one I have a question about is bartender. Does assigning one work the same as NPCC does - bring the sim you want to assign to the specific bar/etc. you want to assign them to, then assign them on-site (and during the desired shift) to make them work there? Also, are you able to fire/un-assign the current employee on the fly as well, or do I have to load them in a house to "strip" them of their old job?

gh0st b0n3r

OK thanks

Fabian Lance Salmon

Nope they're not NPCs careers and the filters work differently.

Zero_

Could you add Cops and doctors as a option to assign as well. I love the mod BTW thanks for all you do! 😊

Fabian Lance Salmon

Should work with NPCC too, but NPCC already has this function and works nicely so you don't really need this one.

Zero_

Amazing!! Does this mod work with the npcc mod?? Or should I replace NPCC with this mod? Can you assign all jobs? Like Waiter, Bartender?? <3

Hazel Sims

two strangerville roles are under special, the military probably works with the standard military career and the sim must be infected... i need to look into those filters to be sure.

Zero_

Hi Zero - thank you for this mod! Quick question - do the role sims for the Strangerville mystery work differently (military and scientist)? I noticed setting the appropriate career isn't enough, but I've not seen that military role in NPCC or here. Thanks!

helaene

sure, the game does it from time to time.

Zero_

OMG. This is something I didn't know I needed. Btw can we assign an occult for NPC job? For example: A vampire bartender?

satya nutella

Thank you!

Alex

This is just beautiful. Thank you soooooo much

Tootz1011

Omg thank you! <3

Stephanie Anderson

Nope this is just to give jobs to specific sims... some jobs are region locked on their own (like bartender). NPCC already has this function, though.

Zero_

Thank you for your hard work! I still use npcc but this will be a good addition. Are certain jobs region locked or lot locked (example: one restaurant being run by 1 group of sims and another being run by another group)?

Miguel M

Oh thank goodness !! Npcs were driving me 😩

No one

Maravilloso!!! *0*
