Vampires - No default Sunlight Weakness and more
Added 2020-02-13 05:17:21 +0000 UTC1- I'm sick of having to activate the sun immunity every time for every vampire I make because I don't agree with the default sunlight weakness.
Sunlight weakness for vampires doesn't exist in lore, it's something introduced by the movie Nosferatu that made it's way into pop culture.
So I removed the death by sunlight unless the vampire has the thin skinned weakness, and made the buffs hidden, no uncomfortable for being in the sun unless they have the weakness.
Being in the sun will still drain vampire power though, and will still make them annoyed, it will just not burn them.
With sun immunity, the power will be drained less and less, not at all at level 3.
2- I love the Nightbound weakness, it makes the vampire really feel like a night creature. daytime drains their power and they have to sleep by day. What I hate is the stressed mood that comes with it... so I removed it, and made the weakness only drain vampire power.

2020-03-25 09:07:24 +0000 UTCThe game version are jokes. I'd like to make them even more cruel than this, but the game has some limitations I don't yet know how to overcome.

2020-03-25 06:06:19 +0000 UTCAwesome! Thank you for the fast response. I'm looking forward to creating a brand new Vampire using your wonderful mods! The game's version of Vampires are just too dull and flat for my liking.

2020-03-25 05:51:14 +0000 UTCIt's two different things. One changes the sunlight weakness system, the other one the nightbound perk. They're two different mods, you can use them together.

2020-03-25 04:17:29 +0000 UTCI have a stupid question.... Are these to use together or are we to choose just one of the two files to install? Can you be more specific with the differences between the options if it's a choose one deal? Sorry to bother you with this, I just want to make sure.

2020-03-25 03:41:36 +0000 UTCYeah... The sunlight reversal system is rather complicate but it works on it own. I just removed the death from the sunlight weakness, the drink should stop the energy loss anyway.

2020-03-01 21:40:59 +0000 UTCVery nice mod to make vampires more traditional. Do you know how the Sunlight Reversal Cocktail works with this mod? I'm currently playing a celebrity chef/mixologist sim who became intrigued with vampires and fell in love with the Vatores. I wanted his next quirk to be Juice Enthusiast because he drinks the Sunlight Reversal Cocktail every day.

2020-02-27 10:47:55 +0000 UTCthank you, after watching Netflix Dracula where at the end he realizes sunlight was just thing he believed in, that makes me feel like adding it so vamps could enjoy daylight as well

2020-02-23 12:45:37 +0000 UTCYes but... Maxis sickness immunity doesn't really seem to work well.

2020-02-17 03:25:12 +0000 UTCIs there a way to make vampires immune to illness? My vampire sim seems to get sick more than the other sims and it seems rather ridiculous to me.

2020-02-17 01:57:26 +0000 UTCPorphyria. It was actually more linked to werewolves than to vampires. It was linked to vampirism later, after Nosferatu anyway.

2020-02-15 07:32:49 +0000 UTCI love your attention to detail in your mods and I especially love the attention given to the supernatural sims. I hadn't thought about the light originating with Nosferatu, but now that I think about it I don't really remember it being in Dracula or of course Vlad the Impaler lore, but as I read the comments I thought about a rare skin disease that makes the skin highly sensitive to light that if I think people in the 1800's linked to Vampirism. Thanks for all your hard-work!

2020-02-15 03:43:58 +0000 UTCThis was Carmilla default behavior too... In the book she sleeps late in the morning, but she can still go around under the sun. I think it's lore in more than one work. I mean if I want a Nosferatu vampire I can use the weakness. I'm feeling a bit better now, I still don't have voice and I still get tired quickly than usual, but the fever is gone. Thanks for asking.

2020-02-13 17:18:49 +0000 UTCYes good. I like this. I enjoy the Nosferatu take, too, but the way EA implanted it is super annoying. I think this is a much better way to deal with it. An interesting factoid, I guess: there's a book series I read where this was basically the default behavior for vamps - getting weaker and more tired during the day, but what kept them from burning up or totally passing out was dirt in their shoes from, I want to say it was their home country, but it could've also been from wherever they were turned. If they didn't have that, they would get sick. They also covered up a lot more than a normal human might in the sun. It's been years since I read the books, so I can't remember specifics, but I always thought that was such a fascinating take. I don't know that it could even be incorporated into a mod, but still. It's an interesting addition to vampire mythology, right? There's a whole series of books, but Le Comte de St. Germain was the main protagonist iirc, but there were also other books in the series that were in the POV of other characters that had been established. He was usually still there, but as a secondary or tertiary character as opposed to the main character. My favorite was always Madelaine, his sometimes lover. Anyway, let's end my ramble here. You know me, I'm always around trying telling you new stuff and accidentally throwing wrenches in your plans. PS - I'm glad to see you active again. I missed having you around. How are you feeling?

2020-02-13 17:11:46 +0000 UTCSome ancient roots of vampirism are tied to solar deities in fact (Sekhmet in ancient Egypt) and Dracula himself was stronger under the sun at noon (though I don't remember why) ... I don't know how to tie an effect to a cas item... I'd need to look into it.
