You can still enter any profession with this mod, but progressing in your chosen field will require a degree at some point.
I updated this one to make it easier to maintain (it did not require updating) but it will likely go unsupported since I have a better idea and this isn't really realistic, Maxis vanilla system is far more realistic. It also makes the careers easier and not harder.

2021-03-28 00:08:50 +0000 UTCI have a problem with this mod. My sim needs a "Mixology Specialization Certificate" to progress in her Mixology career. Looking on line, you seem to only be able to get this by sitting in on Mixology courses at the University or by getting it seemingly at random; however, my character has already maxed out her Mixology skill, and therefore cannot attend these classes anymore. Is there an option to "Apply for specialization certificate" I'm missing? Otherwise this feels like an oversight and I'll have to remove the mod for the time being to avoid being locked out of progress.

I fully understand why sometimes one would need a degree with honors rather than a regular degree, but my sim had a degree with honors, and the mod would not accept it. I had to cheat to add a non-honors version of the degree for the mod to recognize my sim had the relevant degree. That seems a bit off to me? Unless the thinking behind it is that my sim is now *overqualified* to be a politician? Just curious, still a great mod either way; thank you!

Have you ever thought of a Mod that continues this general theme and make advanced degrees (masters and PHD) attainable rather than just extra degrees as currently in the game. Then professions such as Doctor, Lawyer, Scientist etc careers would need a advanced degree requirement? Just a idea.

Second off, i have to disagree with you about the education professor track. I think it is very important to have the psychology degree. If you think about it, it kinda makes sense for professors to understand young peoples minds. To be a good teacher, you need to have compassion for the individuals and understand the difference between the students. I have met so many teachers/professors that had zero understanding of my mental health for example. I have mental health problems and they just thought i didn't care about what i was doing and i suffered even more under that. And there it would have been great if they had had more education in the psychology part of education. So i must disagree with you here, that it doesn't make sense. To me, it makes perfect sense.

Had a sim get the Mixiology specialist certificate, but she still doesn't fulfill the "Get a degree" requirement for the career. Edit: Actually, never mind! Beware though that this can stop townies too from getting careers, the other one doesn't (and is very less likely to break with patches, the things I tuned don't get updated as often as careers)

I already had that one downloaded and it's in my Mods folder. Will it break my game now as it's no longer supported? I really liked that idea and I'd still like to use the mod if possible!

I started on my degree but still went to work with her and she ended up getting promoted despite not finishing her degree.
