It's been a pretty funny argument over the last decade as to whether this is a magical girl anime, so I'm curious to know your take. It fits basically all the genre conventions (transforming heroine, nonhuman mascot etc).

If a series is based on other media, the OP is partly intended as advertising, and very often contains spoilers (since the creators assume you may have read the manga/light novel); go with a 3-4 episode rule.
