You summon a more limited slice of only the parts of the heroic spirit that fit within the mold of the class, narrowing the scope of their power to the one class. The difference is that in the normal HGW we summon the class as a familiar, and in this HGW they overwrite their existence with the existence of the card. So the person installing the card becomes a psuedo servant temporarily. As for the roof scene, I think Kuro's coming from a place of wanting Illya to harden up and lock in for the fight. Kuro's always been irritated by Illya acting more her age and not maturing faster in the face of higher stakes, and now that so much of their plans are riding on Illya, it makes sense to me that she didn't trust her not to lose focus at a critical moment without a lesson like this.
