The word cruel reminds of that one quote: "Alongside time exists fate, the bearer of cruelty." It's almost fitting considering what kind of anime this is

Also gotta admire the balls the writers had to say "let's make a magical girl anime with no source material, make it dark, put the MC name in the title but don't make her a magical girl until the final episode." Homura's fight is my second favorite gun fight in anime. The conversation that madokas mom had with the teacher helped let her trust in madoka to go off by herself. And yea I cried in this episode too. Again kyubey most hated anime character of all time!

Some animes that I recommend: D4DJ (it's like Bang Dream but with DJs), Selection Project (is about an idol reality show), CUE! (the characters want to be voice actresses), Lapis Re Lights (idols who can do magic). I liked all of those but maybe some of them are not very popular to react to, but since you have seen animes like Love Live and Bang Dream, you might like them. If you want to watch yuri anime I recommend Bloom into you; Adachi to Shimamura; Citrus.
