Poll for James' family name
Added 2024-10-16 13:10:31 +0000 UTCHeyo Navigators!
Fiddling around with some new feature here that i wanted to bring in for a little while, and that is an actual last/family name for James.
Again one of those things that was hindered by my lack of coding ability and time pressure at the time. So i only managed to implement one name. Now I really want to get away from Arthur just calling you "recruit" all the time, and actually go Mr. Last Name instead, as would be custom at the time.
So, what is the poll for then? Well, of course to figure out which last name James should have!
When i came up with James i didn't expect the name to actually become as prominent as it did, so i guess maybe some more care should be used for the last name this time around.
And i figured why not make it a bit of a reference to some of the people who wrote the memoirs that i used as sources for the general low-rank sailor life.
So yeh, throwing it up for a vote to you all!
(I'll throw in the book titles as well, for those that might be looking for additional reading material)

Yeah, they're good books! Of course do keep in mind that they very much are memoirs, so you aren't getting gripping story archs or anything of the like, but they're super fascinating.

2024-10-17 11:13:57 +0000 UTCI've been checking these books on Amazon, and I think I'm liking 'Two Years Before the Mast' the best (I even ordered it!), so I'm going for Dana. :3

2024-10-17 01:38:49 +0000 UTCHow about James Jameson? Maybe add a middle name of James as well. Or James James. Then he could be Mr. James or James and both would be equally correct. More seriously, I seem to recall that sometimes "Mr." was added to a person's first name rather than last name when talking to them.
