Oh if the boyz are covering a movie like this then I can’t wait for the 1990 Dolph movie “Dark Angel”

In regards to the discussion on microplastics and cotton, im curious about the boys thoughts on linen? Gabrus strikes me as a heavy linen guy but maybe not since he didn't mention it, I've been debating spreading out from cotton into different types of fabric but as a fellow king of a certain size I worry about the kind of silhouette it would cast on me. Maybe Rodgers plops with a silk scarf at night to keep those locks so luscious? Excited for your thoughts on various types of textiles and fabrics and their uses, xoxo Ciscokid

All I can think about is a Mason and Jason Storm movie now.

Scott Tammel

Mesh Tees.

It's funny to think about if you told people about the motorized one wheel skateboard things at any point pre-2000 people would have thought it sounded like the coolest thing in the world, but now that they've actually come out anyone ever seen riding one is considered an absolute dork

Jimjim

😂 we were constantly trying to figure out how to join these universes.

Terry Turdle

This movie is fuckin WILD!

Terry Turdle

Rodgers and Gabrus talking about their future kids: 1:36:24. 😂

"Timber Wars" is a good podcast about this time.

The Montreal Protocol to address the ozone layer only moved forward because the chemicals causing damage were going off patent and the manufacturers had replacements patented (which also were bad, it took a few iterations to stop making ozone damaging chemicals). It wasn’t altruism or really a triumph of good policy, it was a corporate transaction. You would hope renewables could have the same profit potential, but long lasting sustainable (once manufactured) rather than consumable energy sources don’t pose the same profit motive to move our policy and thus we’re burning our world.

Matthias Hues plays the main bad guy in I Come in Peace (AKA Dark Angel), a really fun sci-fi buddy cop actioner starring Dolph Lundgren and Brian Benben. Without a doubt a future Action Boyz movie.

"Runnin' with the Sumi.....I live my life on the...surface world..."

Bad Canadian action is extremely my jam so I went and watched the whole thing on YouTube

Frosty peaches

Damn this episode is an instant classic! I think it’s right up there with the legendary Lawnmower Man episode.

Bobbie Phillips has a fun IMDB. I'm definitely going to watch Chameleon, that was good enough to spawn a few sequels and she stars in it. Should be fun. Zoey doesn't get to revenge her killer. Oh ok Billy will, lame but ok. Nope, Niki Picasso gets the big kill. Well Zoey will help with her Dad's password, nope, Bolo will do that. She'll kick some butt in the final? Nope she will stare off into space for the final action. Doesn't even get a ending credit sequence, wtf.

Dan Skisak

Yes. Towards the end of the movie I yelled "double time!". My 6th grade training stayed with me.

Dan Skisak

Big fan of the "Stalked by my Doctor" series. We Love Trash podcast has me watching all those.

Dan Skisak

Fuck man, all that talk about Stone and his embarrassments was way too relatable. I’ll never forget when I couldn’t hold my shit in in pre school and tried to hide the fact that I shit my pants for like a half hour until my teacher eventually had to wipe my ass in our classroom bathroom. I walked out of the bathroom and I clearly remember every single kid silently staring at me as I walked back to my seat. And in middle school I also asked out a girl that I had never talked to the entire school year.

Alex Elani

Hell yeah

My highschool gym teachers nickname was “TC”, short for Thundercock. The story goes, he was he was spotting someone on the bench wearing jogger shorts and one unfortunate day it flopped out.

The VHS box always stood out to me when tape rental was still a thing. This movie is like a bad car accident that I couldn’t stop looking at. I’ve recently been consuming a lot of the “B” movies you guys have done episodes on and wondering what your take on Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky would be.

Jacob Lucero

My gym teacher in middle school would just have us exercise to a tai bo tape like 12 times a year on a CRT with the lights turned down

The opening VO is describing more or less 2/3 of Fallout

I’m currently fostering a dog named Zoey, she found this movie engaging but confusing. 5 barks

AFistfulofGwildors

Is this the first glickenhaus ABZ movie? He was some Wall Street guy who wanted to produce movies. Now he builds and campaigns his own endurance race cars https://glickenhausracing.com/

John

This is a movie 11 year old me would have stayed up to 1215 to watch after sneaking past my parents room to tv, assuming there’d be boobs.

Hammerthrust Von Sexron

I know I may be alone in this but I really enjoyed this one. It was like a bad trip where at first when I was trying to fight it (make sense of it) it was terrible but when I decided to just go for the weird ass ride…enjoyed the hell out of it. The crazy adr, the lines, the look of it, the training montage.

Oldmancoyoteface

TC disc is sold out but fell in love with shitty Jalal Merhi movies through Vinegar Syndrome. https://vinegarsyndrome.com/search?q=Jalal&submit=Search&options%5Bprefix%5D=last&type=product

Sean Hutchinson

It’s weird to think that this came out the year I graduated high school. I think the cheap budget somehow makes this look so much older. Edit: I made this comment before I listened to the podcast. Clearly they commented on how shitty this looks.

Nathan Rodriguez

☝️.........not really

Big Junior

When they kept saying Scott over and over I got weirded out.

Scott Ferris

Society put Drederick Tatum away for his brutal crime. But he's paid his debt, and now he's going to get revenge... on Homer Simpson.

JoeGroganExperience

Do they do anything else….?

Donatello’s Big Dong

you’d think with the amount that the AIDS epidemic comes up on abz they’d be a little less credulous about the good old days of the 80s when politicians weren’t amoral and bought by lobbyists 🙄

Emma

I love Actionboyz because it’s the only podcast that needs a dossier for their promotional videos

PatrickKilbrogan

Another hilarious Ep! Thanks Stanger!

Horace Jallowman

Super helpful to obtain the backstory of the guy who starred in the exercise videos that went viral in like 1997-8 amongst South Florida Jewish 12 year olds

Jean Cahill

Rico's Pizza! Holy shit that brings me back.

Jon Hedden

In reference to Matthias Hues having 13 in development, Eric Roberts has 101 upcoming projects and most of them are things just “in development”

Cole Trickle

Re: early 90s crappy movie and tv scores. That was the dawn of the “workstation” where you could sequence drums, samples, and synths from a single keyboard. Most likely a Korg M1 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korg_M1

Thanks for the July 1, Canada Day gift! Great that the Boyz are getting into the treasure trove of 1990’s Canadian direct to video / cable action films. Would love to cover Talons of the Eagle since it has lots of real Toronto flavour and James Hong https://youtu.be/YZsv19QNErQ?si=C5zkRKwheYeZ-Ukz

Hard core use of welding mask in first minutes of movie...set focus to :ENGAGE

Pacer Lee

Does Billy Blanks have the most disgustingly ugly haircut in a movie ever?

Jerry Lambert

they don’t make them like they used to.

It's nice to see the Boyz dip their toes into the world of straight to video action movies. The genre produced plenty of cheap crap but there are also some diamonds in the rough. Stuff like Rage and Riot, produced by PM Entertainment. I watched King of the Kickboxers recently (also starring Billy Blanks) and it's a blast with Hong Kong level camera work and excellent fight choreography. Most of these movies can be found pirated on YouTube. Film One, the production company behind this film have their own YouTube page where they officially uploaded their movies free of charge. Which suggests that a patreon podcast is the only way to monetize these flicks. https://youtube.com/@filmone1?si=N3o5vtyEFwK5Gdqb

Wesley Dolan

This movie was terrible. Literally the only good that could come of it is this ActionBoyz episode.
