Appreciate your willingness to be vulnerable about any number of things on these episodes - feelings, insecurities, frustrations, the industry, etc. You've helped me develop some new perspectives on gaming, writing and life after a period of being pretty dissociated under the weight of some heavy life stuff. I've started writing again the last few weeks and have found it extremely life giving. That last bit about "male bonding" had me dying, I was listening to the pod with my fiancé last week and after Jake's slumber party piece I turned to her and waxed poetic about the many childhood memories of slumber parties that it unlocked (most of which involved or revolved around gaming). These days I don't have a lot of friends that game, but that episode made me want to find some - thinking back to my childhood reminded me of the power of gaming to create a safe space to connect. As a kid, and especially as a young boy, I don't think I understood the significance of it, but the way games broke down social barriers that allowed me to lean on my friends throughout some heavy childhood trauma was invaluable to me. As an adult I find myself constantly learning from my childhood self, more than I expected. Crazy how much kids intuitively understand that adults have to relearn. Anyway, cheers!
