Another good one is Fall in love with a girl by Cavetown and Orla Gartland. They played it at the PERFECT moment in episode 5 it was the perfect song for that moment

That is the reason but not in the way she supposes. He's distracted by Nick's coming out and the attendant stresses and not being a teenager lost in love.

2023-08-10 12:07:01 +0000 UTCThere's a frame, I think when Elle finds out the movie and Tao says he wants it to be HER perfect date where Alex's face is clearly like "Awww..." and Josh is clearly like "Uhhh..." at the same time and it's so perfect Especially because that's obviously how they're trying to set it up, like it SEEMS like a sweet thing to do but maybe there's something Tao is missing here

2023-08-10 12:02:10 +0000 UTCI don't consider myself a gifted person like Charlie, but I can definately relate to the procrastination part, because I did a lot of that in highschool and Uni, and I wasn't the best at asking for help either, so I often finished my papers an hour or so before deadline, instead of maybe a few days before, so I could have gone through it once more to check for mistakes/things that needed editing etc, and maybe gotten a better grade, than I did.( I still procrastinate a lot like watching a series/read a book etc. And push back some household chores, but I try to do better 😆)

One thing I'll say about the ending, that I'm not sure you picked up on - when Charlie said all that stuff about wanting everyone to know Nick's his boyfriend, Nick was asleep and didn't hear it, so while he did voice his wants, it was one-sided by that point.

Loved the conversation about keeping your GCSE notes or not..‘Haven’t you heard of A levels?!’ You are me at times, Josh! 😂❤️ I usually laugh a lot when watching your reactions, but this time, I found myself getting more than a bit tearful sharing Alex’s reaction and comments about that last scene with Nick and Charlie, especially when you were reflecting on your own experience. Most things have been said already but I would add that there’s clearly something going on with Tara and Darcy and you’re not going to get the full picture for quite a while. 😬🤐

2023-08-10 05:01:41 +0000 UTCAlice Oseman has done such a phenomenal job with the script this season, and Joe Locke and Kit Conner are just on another level. Through the first season I always saw Nick as super mature for his age and very good at expressing himself, but I’m noticing a pattern of where he tries to bottle everything up, is extremely unsure of himself and how to act, then his emotions kind of come pouring out and that’s when we see communicative Nick, but it’s more like the floodgates have opened and everything he’s been feeling just comes tumbling out, or completely overwhelms him here. I do so appreciate though that even though both boys are going through a hard time, they aren’t taking it out on each other! Communication breakdowns and fights haven’t been the source of the drama! I feel like we see that so often with TV couples and it’s pretty refreshing to see them be kind and patient and model a healthy relationship vs dramatize an unstable one. My god I wish this had been around when I was in high school. Love your reaction videos, this show is so good at making us think and reflect and it’s awesome to hear your perspectives! Okay novel done there are just so many emotions 😅

2023-08-10 02:10:25 +0000 UTCBecause he's every gifted kid ever 😅 I definitely agree that the procrastination is an indication of a mental health struggle, and it's a complete misunderstanding of what's going on to assume that he could have just done it in a few hours from the start. He literally wouldn't have the neurotransmitters in his brain to do that level of work when the pressure isn't on. It was probably between spending a month on a 98% or spending a day on a 93%. It would have been less stress, better mental health, and better grades in total to do it ahead of time, but a whole lot less efficiency than just winging it day-of. This is also why I have a lot more negative judgments toward his mom than a lot of people. She KNOWS he's an A+ student, yet she doesn't even ask him a single question about what's going on (also keep in mind that he turned the paper in on time and, if the books can be used as a guide here, probably did great on it so WHAT WAS EVEN THE PROBLEM here as far as his schoolwork is concerned) - just blamed it on the thing that he enjoys most and took that away.

I like how the show (and the comics) sprinkles in little hints and details without being so forced or awkward about it. Because that’s true to life: sometimes the indications that someone is struggling aren’t obvious, you find that the signs reveal themselves slowly through small details that build up over time.

This episode was pivotal for me when I was watching because it lays out the tone for what is to come. No spoilers, but the complexity that exists in this season is off the charts, and this episode establishes it. Also Joe and Kit are extraordinary. They are so improved from last season, especially Joe. The other characters are also coming into their own. I am really excited to watch along with you as this progresses, as I really think this season has hit a new high, and it goes up from here. Just saying. 🩷💛
