In art, style, and substance intertwine, exemplified by the ethos and pathos of Punk and Jazz. Punk, with its simple, amateurish yet passionate and expressive nature, contrasts with Jazz's technical complexity and improvisational authenticity. Both genres defy musical norms, showing that Punk's aesthetics need substance for impact, and Jazz's substance is enhanced by its style. This illustrates the need to reassess biases in judging artistic merit, as seen in the differing receptions of works like MBDTF and Lil Pump's mixtape, where one's grandiosity and conceptual depth are weighed against the other's punkish, attitude-driven style. The main takeaway is that people should challenge their preconceptions about what constitutes "good" art. Please excuse my imprecise argumentation. I could write pages on this.

Punk is a genre that benefits from lo-fi production. A track like Feed My Fire by Petrol Girls assaults the eardrums due to it's harsh production, and that's the effect you want. If the instruments/ vocals on a punk song sound too warm, you don't get that cold shower/ slap in the face effect that makes a song truly punk and a rush to listen to. Country and folk songs benefit from lo-fi production too: just compare Townes Van Zandt's live cuts to the soulless, overproduced studio versions, or consider the heartbreaking flaws in Karen Dalton recordings.

I wouldn't mind seeing more "Not Bad" reviews, it scratches a weird itch that's oddly similar to knowing a friend of yours you haven't talked to in quite a while is getting married. it's like "oh this person that we didn't expect to hear from is doing this good thing, good for them"

I really like it when there’s an artist and they sing and it’s good

Lord of The Wasps

I'm thinkin we can all agree MORE FOOD ON A STICK PLZ

Getting into house, can you name some of your favorite house albums off the top of your head, basically good ones to start with...
