It feels like an oversight on Microscale Lab's part to put the 'SHRINK' Button right next to the 'Messages' Button...
It had been nearly an hour since Monserrate was supposed to meet his date in the park, and only now was he finally starting to give up hope that he'd show up. He tries to give people the benefit of the doubt, but being completely ignored for the last hour when not five minutes before he'd said he was on his way felt cruel. His foot kept tapping in frustration as he tried to keep back the tears of frustration on his face.
All the while, his date had endured a nightmarish experience. Having arrived early, he'd opened his app to message Monserrate to let him know he'd arrive, mistakenly tapping the 'Shrink' button and finding himself suddenly squished down to the size of a bug. Grumbling to himself about how the app needed some sort of prompt to confirm shrinking, heavy footsteps began their approach.
The man looked up toward the sky, finding his date had arrived right on time, the man's heart fluttering at the sight before sinking as he watched Monserrate take another massive step towards him. Of course he wouldn't think to look down, what idiot would shrink himself out in the open like this?
SLAM
Monserrate's sneaker crashed down atop the tiny man before he'd even had a chance to run, pinning him to the rubber soul as Monseratte took a seat on the bench. The man was Atlas, bearing the weight of the world above him as Monserrate sat there glancing at his phone every other minute. Thankfully, the Smallr app ensured users' protection by making their bodies rubbery to endure such harsh experiences (since some folks are into the rougher stuff), however that didn't mean the pressure was any less unpleasant.
Although, the man would have gladly taken that over the tapping.
Tap Tap Tap
Monserrate's foot began to rhythmically collide with the ground again and again. Tap Tap Tap. Each smack of his sole against the concrete only further mashed the man's tiny form into the crevices of his shoe's sole, pinning him further in place as it came again. Tap Tap Tap. Each time Monserrate raised his foot, the man tried to scream for his attention, only to be silenced as his face met concrete once more.
Then he stood up.
If he were bearing the weight of the world before, the man was completely unprepared for the unfettered heft of Monsteratte's full weight stepping down on him. The man felt as though he were about to pop, as though he were a poorly built submarine diving to the titanic. He prayed that Monserrate would move his foot, as he began losing faith in Smallr's safety features. His squishy body was quickly thinning out further and further, his back shifting into the design of Monseratte's shoe and perfectly pinning him in place. Soon enough he'd look like nothing more than a strangely shaped wad of gum against the man's sneaker.
Tap tap tap
Once again, he was being smashed into the concrete once more, Monserrate's patience growing thin. Tap Tap Tap. It was so much worse than before. Tap Tap Tap. Being kicked by the full weight of this goliath again and again was too much. Tap Tap Tap. He swore he would pass out, his head was swimming from the pressure, and yet conscious he stayed...
An hour had passed. Tap tap tap... tap tap tap... tap tap tap...
Monserrate's previously sparse tapping of his foot had become a constant battering of the man's body as his anxious fidgeting overtook his body. The man could barely think anymore, only praying this hell would end any time soon as his face smashed the concrete again and again and again until--
Monserrate's foot lifted. The man's heart briefly surged with hope once more. Had Monserrate felt him on his sole? Had his luck finally turned around? Was he going to be save--
SLAM
One step forward, smooshing the tiny into the pavement and scraping his body across the rough concrete. Oh no, how could this have gotten even worse? Then brief relief as Monserrate took a step with his other foot before SLAM. Once again the tiny man's body met the road as Monserrate began his long walk home.
If he couldn't get a date, at the very least he'd take the opportunity to get his steps in for the day, since his apartment was about an hour and a half walk from here...
