Post:
Happy holidays everyone! This year has just flown by, where does the time go? The schedule has been slipping but please rest assured I am working hard through the holiday break to catch back up to the more reliable release cadence I had before this last couple months.
There were numerous roadblocks that have slowed me down. You can skip the last two paragraphs in this post if you don’t want my excuses haha.
I have read every single comment of feedback on the voiceovers. Between the holidays and trying to get the next experience released faster, I got a bit overwhelmed with all the comments so I decided to respond here in this post.
I went ahead and included a touch more in the Strasbourg, France mini experience based on the feedback. What did you think?
I believe the consensus is less is more, but also more is appreciated sometimes to add to the setup of a new arc in an experience. I will continue to refine this approach to find that perfect balance. It is impossible to please everyone, but that won’t stop me from trying!
As for dual track audio, I am exploring this possibility but have been unable to attach two separate ambisonics audio tracks so far. I can only get it to work with two separate binaurel stereo audio tracks - unsuccessful with two ambx tracks. Will continue to dig deeper to try to overcome this technical challenge.
Thank you for your understanding on this schedule slippage. I am stretched as thin as one human can possibly be. With more ongoing monthly members I hope to begin hiring crew members to help with creating content.
As of now, I must continue to put every last bit of your support back into travel/equipment expenses.
Happy holidays everyone! Let’s make 2025 the year Slice of life VR gets its first crew members!
Roadblocks:
-All four of my rtx 4090 intel 14900k rendering/editing PCs fell victim to the infamous voltage degradation instability issue that intel has admitted is plaguing most all 13th and 14th gen cpus. Fortunately I have implemented the new bios fixes and warrantied the affected CPUs so it appears I will not have render crash issues anymore. Part of the fix apparently slowed my render time from ~1 day to ~2 days per 20 mins of content which is unfortunate.
-Heavier than normal travel needed to film more experiences combined with heavier than normal workload from my day job. Not sure if it is apparent from the content, but it is absolutely astronomical the amount of work that goes into a single 1 hour+ experience from planning phase to filming to editing to color grading to sound work. It’s a whole Hollywood movie’s worth of work and I am doing all of this by myself. Nevertheless I have been working three years to increase my speed and I will get back to my normal output.
