Trip Report: Japan + New Location Planned for 2024 Schedule

Japan filming was a great success! What a wonderful country filled with beautiful locations and thousands of years of history. I am very excited to begin work on about 14 terabytes of footage :D I read all the public comments on the last post as soon as they came in and loved to read them when they came in but I just didn't have time to respond with the traveling. I'll be responding at some point today! I always respond as I love to hear your thoughts.

As you can imagine, it was extremely difficult to talk with the locals like I normally do (Since I can't speak Japanese), but my gf was happy to help inject some on camera interaction with the locals/ area so all these experiences will still have that interactive feel that makes the "Slice of life VR" channel the most unique and most entertaining professional quality VR channel in the world.

In Osaka we will visit the lively Doutonbori Street which includes walking straight into the instagram famous "Don Quijote" to see all the interesting Japanese products as well as a trip to Osaka Castle.

In Kyoto we will of course wander the Gion District. Enjoy a beautiful day in the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest (Where we will enjoy some beautiful music by a local artist). I was even able to capture a beautiful crane fishing in one of the streams up close on the philosophers path in Tetsugaku No Michi! We'll make a stop in Nara, where massive shrines surround your view, and wild deer by the dozens walk straight up to you looking for rice crackers. We were also fortunate enough to run into a once a month pop up market held at a different temple.

In Tokyo, we will wander the Shinjuku "Red Light District" at night. Walk the streets of Shibuya Crossing - the busiest crossing in the world where up to 2,500 people cross the street every two minutes. We will also explore the anime capital of the world Ahikabara (Where we walk right into a massive 4 story Anime Store).

I am working on getting a YouTube Full Length Channel Membership up and running for those that do not mind the compresssion/distortion of 8k streaming on Youtube VR with Quest 3. To point it out, the compression artifacts are most noticeable when the camera moves, so for example when the camera first starts moving after the 2.5 minute intro sequence of Maui Hawaii. Also, there is heavy distortion on anything towards the ground or towards the sky (such as wavy distortion lines on big buildings). The audio is also heavily compressed on Youtube and goes from 8 channel spatial ambisonics to 4 channel at lower bitrate (Lower bitrate means less feeling of presence). It will have similar pricing to the Patreon direct downloads.

I am still very much counting on your support to continue producing these experiences, every single dollar that comes in goes straight into traveling to create more experiences. So if you are thinking about switching to the new YouTube Full Length Channel Membership please consider staying signed up for the patreon right up until I can officially launch the Youtube Full Length Streaming Membership. I expect it to take about another 2 weeks. I will not be able to continue without your continued support.

Finally, August and September release schedule is looking a little dry. So I am considering a France or Italy 8k 3D 180 series for these months :D Pending we can keep the channel support going :)

Ft Lauderdale 2023 remastered is on track for release in a few days on Vision Pro/Quest. Followed by June 13 Hoh Rain Forest, then Osaka at the end of June. Working on updated Vision Pro releases for an even further enhanced HDR experience. Maui Hawaii/Seattle has the enhanced HDR already, and all previous episodes will need to be re-released in the coming weeks to take advantage of the "Enhanced HDR".
