Apologies regarding EP27 (Pt 1)

Hi everyone!

Hope everyone's doing well, and you guys are staying safe.

I wanted to address something that honestly, I'm very ashamed that I didn't catch beforehand. I deepily apologize for the discomfort and distress I may have given you guys, especially my Black readers.

So for Patreon's read-ahead versions of EP27 (Pt 1) there was an extra character who talks wanting chicken. In the Webtoons/Tapas version I did edit the character to be a cameo, but in the original Patreon version, the character was a dark-skinned Black student.

It truly was not my intention for him to be callback to a harmful racial stereoype.

What had happened was a combination of me being sick, stressed, and my colorist, who doesn't have the script when coloring, being told to color background characters from a palette.

This doesn't excuse me at all. In the end, I'm in charge of the final panels. I simply should have been more aware, caught the stereotype implication from the start, and never published it.

I'm really sorry. The Patreon panels have been changed to the cameo'd panels so you don't have to look at that mess of a panel. I've shocked and hurt my Black readers, and I can only hang my head in shame because I was ignorant.

I'm holding this incident close to heart so that I'll never forget it, that even as a POC myself that I'm not infallible to these things and that I must do better.

I hope that you guys, especially my Black readers, can forgive me.

I’m black and I didn’t even notice πŸ‘€ Honestly, from the way it was written, I’m assuming you weren’t trying to be stereotypical when giving the dialogue to this character?? Either way you noticed the hiccup and gave us a sincere apology so thank you for that ❀️

Unfortunately oversight like this will happen, especially when tired, sick, stressed, or even sometimes just because you didn't know better.. What really matters is how you handle the aftermath. And so far, you did great ❀️ I'm also very sorry, I did not catch the mistake when I read the panel on patreon either. I'll try to be more on the lookout for hiccups like this; as you said we're all kind of proofreaders here, and also the Black persons of the community deserve it.
