Sooo my next series (basically a sci-fi Bloom and Zoom) finally got reviewed by the publisher... and I got told to make it more marketable 😂😭😔🥺

I've been focusing the majority of my time and brainpower on making the revisions as quickly as possible.
(I've posted some of the character backstories here. And if you're in the patron-only Discord, I've been yapping there too.)

What these comic pages are:
I made this rough chapter to help me visualize some of the story concepts (ignore the weird dialogue or art!). It's not part of the pitch btw!!!
In general, I'm struggling with the new plot and how to fit subplots I really want to include into the main story. I’ve already had to scrap a lot of ideas :')
Also, I think better when I’m drawing, not writing, which is tough when I need to plan everything ahead and present it in writing.
But already this doodle helped me understand the characters better. Yipee!

As you could probably tell from my comics, I'm a very manga-vibes person. So having this publisher take on my next series would be a huge dream come true, as they're a manga company!
Right now, I’m focused on getting my next series pitch approved as quickly as possible, which is taking up most of my time. And in traditional publishing, feedback can take a while to come.
Here's the project timeline so far:
June 2024: First idea pitch shown to my editor
October 2024: Edited first pitch submission
March 2025: Review team’s feedback
early April 2025: Submitted the new story direction
late April 2025: More feedback (and still reworking things!)
Some of these characters and ideas have been with me since 2020, and tbh is part of the problem. I’m too attached to certain things, which makes it hard to view them objectively.
But I suppose that is the pains of storycrafting haha.
Also I’ve recovered from my 2024 year-long burnout, so I can put more brain power into this story now.
And so, hopefully, faster results!

p.s. also, I know I previously said all YWAM characters were up for spicy grabs, but I want to be honest— since it's been a while since YWAM ended and I’ve been focusing more on Bloom and Zoom, bringing those characters back in that way doesn’t feel natural right now.
Hope y'all can understand! And there’s still plenty of past YWAM art in the Patreon collection, plus two years’ worth of art in the digital books if you ever want to revisit it.
