Date Ariane 2 version 0.4 update
Added 2025-04-26 05:25:02 +0000 UTCFinally got to another break point, finishing the interior living room, kitchen, and exterior front door pictures, and all the pool pictures. Also fixed several bugs on the "makeout on the couch" scene.
There are two ways to update. You can go to https://arianeb.itch.io/date-ariane-2/patreon-access and download the latest version there, or what might be faster is the patch below.
On PC or Linux, extract the file to the directory where the DateAriane2.exe is located, say yes to replace files.
On Mac you control-click (right-click) the Date Ariane 2 app, Show Package Contents, go to Contents/Resources/autorun/ and drag the patch game folder, and if a window pops up, choose “Combine”.

I also added some fun things to the game for you to try. Inspired by "The Stanley Parable" I decided to try adding a "voice of your anxiety" unreliable narrator to the beginning of the game. I want your opinion on it. Should I keep it just at the beginning of the game? Expand it to the whole game? Make it optional? or drop it completely?
I also found out how to add an "idle state" to a Renpy game. On some choice menus, if you take too long to pick, Ariane will start asking rhetorical questions. I might turn this into a mini-game, but for now you can pretend to answer and the game goes back to the menu.
Next time my goals are to finish the house: hot tub, bedroom, and shower scenes, as well as try to balance the game better.
When the game is finally balanced, there should be more "fails" that can be avoided with better choices early. The help menu walkthroughs are very broken at this point due to all the rule changes, I may replace them with something else.
Anyways, try it out.
