ComeCloser may look like a fun and simple game, yet it uses cutting edge technologies. With more than 80 physic muscles driving the bodies, realistic simulations of clothes and hair and a high definition VR rendering, the game requires a strong hardware to run smoothly.
Standalone:
- an Oculus Quest 1 or 2.
PCVR:
- SteamVR and Windows 7/10 64bits,
- HTC Vive/Pro/Cosmos,
- Valve Index,
- Oculus Rift/S, Quest/Quest 2,
- All Windows Mixed Reality headsets,
- Minimum: i5, NVidia GTX1080 or AMD RX5700,
- Recommended: i7, NVidia RTX2070 or AMD RX5700XT.
To play with Quest and Quest 2 via a PC, you can either use the Link connexion or VirtualDesktop in WiFi.
The game requires DirectX11 and won't run with graphic cards such as AMD RX580 or NVidia RTX980.
Download links
- ComeCloser Demo, free, censored, to test the game on your hardware (PCVR only).
- ComeCloser "Amuse-bouche", meet Vanessa in a short but highly re-playable experience (PCVR only).
- ComeCloser, the full content.
- ComeCloser Quest, the full content (static hair, no clothes).
Serious players and First-class investors can also access the latest "beta" build.
Installation on PC
ComeCloser is shipped as a portable software and you won't need to install anything on your computer. Instead, just extract the game from its zip file and launch ComeCloser.exe.
You must extract the zip file completely, and not launch the game from inside the zip file. To extract the zip file, you can download any zip software like 7-zip.org. If you have troubles unzipping the file, you can find plenty of tutorial online or contact us via Patreon messaging.
You should not place the game in a folder that is managed by the system, such as ProgramFiles or Windows folders. Any other folder is ok.
Installation on Quest
Oculus policy does not allow explicit content and we can't publish ComeCloser on the Oculus Store. That said, installing apps that are not accepted by Oculus Store is a pretty basic thing. It's called "side loading" and many simple tools can help with that. This one-time procedure requires a PC or an android device.
The idea is to register as a developer on Oculus website to enable the developer mode on your Quest and access its file system. It's simple, fast and safe.
Here is the procedure to install ComeCloser on a Quest using SideQuest and a PC:
- download ComeCloser Quest using the links above (it is a standard android APK file),
- download & install SideQuest, on your PC or android device.
- follow their instructions to enable developer mode on your Quest,
- launch SideQuest,
- click on "install APK file from your computer" and locate the ComeCloser.APK file you have downloaded.
To side load ComeCloser APK with an Android device (without a PC), you can use the app Bugjaeger.
There are plenty of good tutorials out there if you need more detailed instructions.
That's it! Now you can put your headset on. ComeCloser is in the "unknown sources" application category.
Note: You can also side load a file manager app on your Quest once and for all. Such an app will allow you to download and install APK files directly from your Quest.
Currently, we don't know any way of side loading an APK from an iOS device.
Comments
To side load the apk file on your Quest from an Android device, you can use the application Bugjaeger. Lots of tutorials on youtube. I think SideQuest for Android now allows it too but not sure about that.

2024-09-15 21:21:39 +0000 UTCRTX 3070ti should run the game at a solid 50fps at least in VR with a Quest 3. My best guess is that you have a issue with your connexion or a super sampling forcing a larger resolution

2024-05-14 15:23:07 +0000 UTCI mean its only gonna lagging when i connect it with the quest when i play it on pc i dont have leggs. My Gpu is rtx3070ti

2024-05-14 05:13:14 +0000 UTCComeCloser is compatible with the Quest 3

2024-05-13 22:39:18 +0000 UTChey, is it possible to play on quest 3? or only 1 and 2

2024-05-13 21:18:01 +0000 UTCIf the game started once, then it eliminate a lot of possible causes. I don't know this issue and I suspect it has something to do with your VR setup not being ready. You can find some information on this post https://trello.com/c/mKDhr6Ns/42-pc-i-have-a-vr-setup-but-the-game-start-in-desktop-or-the-camera-is-not-moving I suggest you restart everything and set your VR ready before you launch the game, instead of letting the game launch SteamVR itself. It may also help to get the latest GPU drivers and SteamVR update

2023-01-17 14:27:22 +0000 UTCSo, issue i have gotten the game to run one time on my Oculus 2. My pc is definitely up to snuff. The headset and steam vr recognize the game attempting to play, but fail to display anything. The screen just gets stuck on a grid visual saying "up next ComeCloser"

2023-01-17 00:56:53 +0000 UTCI play with Oculust Quest 2 too, I downloaded the demo onto my computer and added the .exe file to my steam library. Then start SteamVR and choose the application from there. No problems

2021-11-22 14:16:00 +0000 UTCHow do you change/rotate the settings on the toys? Is there a faq that explains it?

2021-11-09 18:36:01 +0000 UTCI don't own an android nor a pc, does this work on Mac?
2021-11-09 00:54:00 +0000 UTC?
2021-09-27 16:37:44 +0000 UTCsorry how can i install the uncensored version for quest 2, cause i paid 5 dollars but i cant find the uncensored one
2021-09-27 16:18:25 +0000 UTCDid you follow the instruction from SideQuest? if so, your game should now be accessible through the list of applications in the Quest main menu, but please note that it will be hidden in the category "unknown source", which you can access using the category drop down list.

2021-09-11 23:12:03 +0000 UTCHey I just tried using sidequest to install the game onto my quest 2 but when I install it from my computer files it “extracts the game” and then stops, nothing is on my headset, anyway to fix?
2021-09-11 20:31:17 +0000 UTCHello, your graphic card might have a hard time with the cloth simulation. Please go in the game preferences (the spinning gears in the menu) and try to set cloth physics to "none"

2021-08-13 16:47:20 +0000 UTCHiya, just bought this, but the game doesn't work. Whenever I try to open up a scene, it just crashes. Here's my PC specs: Gigabyte RX 5700 XT, 16 GB RAM, Ryzen 5 3600X. Any help?
reclusive
2021-08-13 16:39:18 +0000 UTCHow do I get this into SideQuest though? That's the part I can't figure out.
O.o
2021-07-11 23:55:04 +0000 UTCHello, first, please ensure you have the latest version of SteamVR and your GPU driver, and to shut down any application the uses the GPU memory. Then, you can try and go into the quality settings (the spinning gear in the menu scene) and set all to "none" and "low". Cloth physics to "none" usually fixes the issue. The RTX 5700 XT should be ok to run the cloth physics in the "low" quality but it is the minimum requirement and may cause issues on some computers.

2021-06-21 12:38:31 +0000 UTCHello, I believe I have the GPU requirements: MSI RX5700XT GAMING X with CPU: AMD RYZEN 9 5900X but the game crashes all the time, I need an I9 with an RTX 3090 TI ???? I give the chance to the game because it is an early access but I would not hesitate to stop my subscription. Thank you for any help and update.
2021-06-21 12:35:19 +0000 UTCThis mean you SteamVR is not starting correctly with the game. Please take a look at the troubleshooting post here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/50938340

2021-06-14 12:15:31 +0000 UTCI am confused. I got it to work wirelessly on my quest but i have been trying to do it linked so i can have access to more things, but a screen keeps popping up everytime I open it. Its just the sky and white pillars? can someone help
2021-06-14 05:31:23 +0000 UTCIt is explained at the bottom of this post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/44887154. You can use other software than SideQuest, the procedure will be mostly the same. SideQuest is available on PC and android but not on iOS. As far as we know, there is no way currently to side load an application using an iPhone or the Quest itself only. So basically you will need either a PC or an android device.

2021-05-18 22:32:34 +0000 UTCOk so i bought the quest 2 but im having a bit of trouble understanding how to download it can you please explain to me how to download it without having a pc or laptop or is that not possible
2021-05-18 01:11:36 +0000 UTCSorry for the inconvenience. Can you share some details about your hardware?
Ben Dum
2021-01-26 08:20:11 +0000 UTCDoesnt launch. Displays unity and crashes.
2021-01-26 02:56:37 +0000 UTCIt's done! We hope to have you back soon ^^ Note that the refund can take some days to process.

2020-12-23 17:14:01 +0000 UTCAlright, then unfortunately I would like to request a refund of my pledge
2020-12-23 16:34:24 +0000 UTCThere are two reasons for that: The game is in its early stage of development, not yet perfectly optimized and there are no graphic options to lower the quality. The game features cutting edge technologies for hair, cloth and body simulations that are expensive to compute, as stated in this post.
Ben Dum
2020-12-23 09:12:06 +0000 UTCIf I can run Half-Life Alyx perfectly fine shouldn’t I also be able to run this? I haven’t had hardware issues with any VR title I’ve tried to run so far.
2020-12-23 09:08:14 +0000 UTCI'm sorry to hear that. Our best guess is that the hardware is just below the requirement. Hopefully, future versions will be more inclusive and you will be able to shutdown some effects to make it run on older hardware. In the meantime, do you want a refund of your pledge?
Ben Dum
2020-12-23 08:56:19 +0000 UTCThe demo straight up doesn't work. I installed it and every time I try to launch it I'll see a brick wall for a few seconds and then it will crash. I have an HTC Vive, and my rig has a Ryzen 5, an RX 580, and 16 gigs of RAM
2020-12-23 03:36:44 +0000 UTCQuests are not yet supported but ReLive was worth the shot. ComeCloser demo has been tested on a AMD GPU and CPU without issue (not specifically on RX5700xt), so I suppose it's something with ReLive. We will give it a try whenever we get our hand on a Quest 2 (part of our first patreon goal!)
Ben Dum
2020-12-22 22:55:39 +0000 UTCIt‘s a Saphire RX5700xt card on a AMD Ryzen 5 with 16gigs of RAM. I get a crash warning from Radeon so I assume it’s something related to the GPU. I have a Quest2. I don’t know how to run it without relive. How do others run it on the Quest?
thinxx
2020-12-22 22:45:51 +0000 UTCThanks for the report. We will look into it for a future version. Can you tell us more about your hardware? Graphic, card, CPU, RAM and headset? Does the game run smoothly outside of ReLive?
Ben Dum
2020-12-22 21:25:38 +0000 UTCSomething doesn't really work when I try to run it via AMD Relive. SteamVR starts but something crashes and the picture basically is static.
