Update 5th Sep '21

This week I put out v0.023 of House of Hellish Harlots, so as is customary, the update post will be more a look ahead post for this month.

The rest of the week was fairly quiet.  I caught up with some other things, got some admin out of the way, planned out some factions, and started a couple of new harlots (Doctoress creations).  I was hoping to get the public version at houseofhellishharlots.com synched up, but picked up some minor sickness bug that kept me out of action for most of Sunday.  I'll try and get that done early next week.

The next big priorities for House of Hellish Harlots involve solving the last couple of puzzles to get the first complete faction out.

MINI-BOSSES
I'm still brainstorming what these should be.  They should be more complex scenarios, but there's already a discrepancy between some short and longer scenarios anyway (and I'm probably veering too much on the side of scenarios being too long already).  My current thinking is that these will be harlots that have multiple sex scenes, will require multiple checks to survive, and player performance in them will go towards determining the final ending.

Originally, I was going to use Temptacia, but she doesn't really fit any of the 3 factions I have closest to completion.  I'm thinking I might bring across and reuse an edited version of the Volumpula scenario to help me get a better idea of what these encounters should be like.

REPEAT VISIT REVAMP
I'm a bit nervous about this as it will require some tinkering with the selection algorithm.  I haven't quite figured out how to do it yet, but I suspect it will involve creating a different category of repeat visit.  As you might have noticed, I stopped added repeat visit functionality for new harlots a while back.  I wanted to do it properly (both the harlot and player remembering each other) and that ended up being too much work for something that didn't really add a great deal to the game.

I've had a rethink on repeat visits and realised a way to justify the work was to treat them as new scenarios and potential side quest chains.  To make this work I need to change the code to have the plot-important revisits show up more frequently.  I'm guessing at the moment, the only way people can get to Mamilla's secret ending is by repeatedly getting the Madam to add her to the next round.  That should have a chance of occurring naturally.

The other thing I'm playing around with is more ways of overriding the selection algorithm.  The Madam already does this when you get her to add a harlot of your choice to the next round.  I'm toying with having some harlots do this as well.  I was working on a repeat visit scenario for Osculia before I switched to basic scenarios in order to have something to release at the end of the month.  Because of what she does to the player at the end of her scenario, I like the idea of having her show up again on the following round to try and 'claim' the player that escaped her.  I think this could open up a lot of fun scenario ideas.

QUEENS
This is the big one.  This is the last encounter and determines the ending.  Like the mini-bosses, I think their scenarios need to be multi-stage.  I also think they need to be affected by decisions the player has made in previous rounds.  I just haven't quite figured how yet (although I have some ideas).

My current rough ideas are for these to be multiple scenes.  Depending on how well the player has done will determine how far they get into the scenario.  Do poorly and they get dispatched fairly quickly.  Do better and they'll get Bad Ends of varying degrees of niceness.  Then I think there needs to be an "Escape" ending where the player beats the House and possibly a "secret" alternate ending similar to Mamilla's.

REGULAR HARLOTS
I'm still working out how to solve those last puzzles, but I still want to have something to release at the end of every month.  All of the regular harlots are done for the smother faction aside from Assphyxia and maybe one other.  So, I'll be switching to Doctoress and Sensuality basic harlot scenarios.  I think if I can get a couple done next week, I can then start tackling the other bigger scenarios secure in the knowledge I'll still have something to release at the end of the month even if the bigger scenarios aren't ready.
